Oster

Looked through and couldnt find anything.
I was looking at the free press website and noticed in the most popular stories a link called 'Rovers transfer boost as Oster signs up' was there but when you click it, it says unable to display, is this ready to be published? i Certainly hope so. :)

I shall resist from Sheffield United Lose Appealing.

This was the article, published on the website yesterday then in the newspaper today, that sparked the hope yesterday that Oster was going to sign today, which I guess we now hope will be tomorrow!

See the thread 'Good news.'

According to The Doncaster Star, we expect Oster to put pen to paper today. http://www.thestar.co.uk/rovers/Oster39s-39yes39-to-new-deal.6326416.jp

Please somebody just give him a pen and the paper and give us some confirmation!

We are currently monitoring the situation of the pen. We've registered our interest in it, there's not too much more you can do really, it's just a waiting game. In the meantime we have a pencil so don't press the panic button.

From todays Sheffield Star.

It is rumoured that other departments are now showing interest in the pen. Ticket Office and Marketing have both been linked with a recent bid for the pen, with Marketing said to have bid a substantial two figure sum. The Reception have also asked that they be updated with any bids. Speaking on Radio Sheffield, Rovers manager Sean O' Driscoll stated 'That's stationary I suppose'

I've heard that the Pen's agent is making unreasonable ink demands.  He wants 12ml a week, ffs!  We cant afford that.  Do they think we are made of ink or summat?

The gold fountain pen was just a rumour and it's actually a yellow Bic that we are in for. The retractable pencil is having a refill at Leeds as we speak. I hate these protracted negotiations as they never rule anything out.

My sources tell me the problem seems to be that the chain that attaches the pen to the special anti-theft-base (pictured above) is not long enough to enable the pen to reach Oster's contract.

Oster's agent has been trying to hold the pen horizontally and with the chain at its fullest extension, but it is still a few millimetres short.

After several attempts late on Friday afternoon to fix the dilemma, Dave Morris eventually sent out for a special two metre long pen chain extension, which will enable Oster and his agent to sign the contract from the comfort of their arm chairs in O'Driscoll's office, sometime next week.

Unbelievable that this shambles can go on at a Championship club!

We obviously haven't learn from our mistakes in the Eighties, when Brian Flynn's contract extension went unsigned for months mainly due to the very same pen and Flynn's stumpy arms not being of sufficient length to reach the pen-in-base set up.

This is what infuriates people though. Chuffing mixed messages. One minute it's the chain on the pen and the likelihood it's missing about 135 links or is it that it was nailed down in-correctly on the signing desk in the first place. This is 2010 ffs. We need to compete with other clubs signing pens?. Sweet Jesus of Nazareth, even Blackpool saw the sense to spend big and purchased a pen with a boingy elastic attachment that stretch's exactly 1 metre long...... this clearly afforded a straight forward signing on of Adams and a couple of loanees.

Proper stationary equals promotion possibilities. Every club knows that.

Get a grip Donny. Bloody Ryan coming out with 'Sean has the biggest stationary budget in the clubs history.....blah blah' rumoured to be £5.97, and the old chestnut 'We broke the clubs stationary record last pre-season when we paid £2.68 for a hole punch' cuts no ice with the fans.

There is a clamour for a major signing pen to boost ST's and quench the fans high expectations........If we don't get a 'Parker' I feel there will be a backlash on here.

I agree. There is only so many times we can realistically expect O'Driscoll to keep pulling rabbits out of the hat.

It was well documented that he was amazed when he joined us that we were still using crayola ten packs (eight of which were snapped) and things don't seem to have moved on from there.

I blame Mark Wilson.

Rumour has it that the signing of the Parker pen is imminent. Dave Parkers yellow bic pen is going to Rotherham on a free transfer, the yellow bic has recently had an operation to wrap sellotape around it`s midrift and SOD felt that the Yellow bic was n`t up to the rigours of Championship signings, the yellow bic will play an important part of the rebuilding job at Rotherham and will be thrown onto Ronnie Moores desk immediately, the yellow bic leaving will free up ink resources to enable the Parker pen to join Rovers. One sticking point seems to be that Mrs Parker-Pen, is not happy about having to move into a pencil case adourned with the St Georges Cross, she see`s this as  \"Council Estate gone bad\". She`s also not happy about the Pencil Case being on Dave Morris`s desk and fears they could be forgot about like the pitch covers were. However, Rovers Chairman John Ryan has offered to put the Parker-Pens up in the inside pocket of one of his Savile Row suits until a suitable inside pocket can be found. Once the Parker-Pen has made the move the signing of Oster, Wilson and Hayter should follow quickly

Read into this what you will, but the pen and his family were being shown around the KM and Cantley Park over the weekend. They stopped briefly to pose for photo's. This is getting exciting. Are we going to see a signing today?

This thread would make a good article for the fanzine, maybe Nathan might make a late bid for the pen to join his fanzine team and then let us have him on a transfer window loan  :)
