Burch and Tuffey a non-starter then?

Gary Woods will start as second choice keeper, which indicates we aren't seeking a replacement for Smith.

I wouldn't argue with that, I think we have other priorities. We desperately need to sign at least two strikers, one of which will probably have to be the biggest signing in the history of the club (whether it's Sharp or not). We also have urgent needs for a dominant central defender of sufficient quality to step straight into the team, and of course a left back to replace Gareth Roberts. It's widely known that O'Driscoll wants to add another midfielder, so I think that while Sullivan is still at the level he's at, a goalkeeper is well down the list of priorities.

If money was no object then it would be nice to bring in a keeper (like Burch) to compete with Sullivan and probably step into the number one position the season after, but money plays a big part. Unfortunately it means we'll lose the chance to sign Burch on a 'free,' but I reckon solving the goalkeeping issue in the long term can be deferred until next summer. I don't know enough about Woods to know if he'll be good enough, but working with Sullivan can only be a help.

Simply, why waste resources on three keepers?  Usually the least injury prone obviously only one can play and they're arguably the easiest to get on loan if we get desperate.  I always thought 3 was too many.  Sulli, Woods and a youth team GK should be enough.

Sorry to have to say this, but does anyone REALLY think we'll spend loads? Look at it this way, We are run to be financially viable so i really doubt Ryan will drop that all of a sudden. It'll be 1/2/3 players we'll pay a fee for, 2-4 freebies and 2/3 loanees by my guestimation.

Oh and i would love Billy Sharp but i just can't see us getting him with the West Yorkshire scum eyeing up a Beckford replacement. If we do sign him, i'm betting on odds he'll score against em next season

I've seen his name touted on here a few times but have we been officially linked with him? He certainly looks like a good player, I imagine they'll have quite a bit of interest in him after yesterday.

The title to this thread suggests that Burch and Tuffey starter, were they ever?
