JET
« on June 03, 2010, 05:18:10 pm by Chrisd_123 »
Instead of stretching the budget to the limit for Sharp I think we should try and get JET on loan for the whole of next season. Going on stats isn't his strike rate actually better than Sharp's was for us last year? Ok Sharp played a lot more games but it's still worth a look. Plus he would give us extra time to look at other strikers rather than spend rashly on a gamble that doesn't pay off?

Just a thought.

JET was nothing special... scored a couple of goals yeh but half the time he looked like he had been playing basketball and been put in a football match! when i went to blackpool he showed no attempt to go and try and tackle anybody and he looked like he was about to cry!

To be fair to him I think he did show significant signs of improvement in terms of effort and his off-the-ball contribution to the team.

Are you serious?  He was quality during his time here.  Numerous goals from nothing and assists.  Big yes for me every time.

He wasn't picked to tackle, ok he looks lethargic but he can turn a game in seconds.
Neil Sullivan didn't put too many tackles in either if I remember

He had shown a tremendous improvement over the final part of the season, and was getting more and more involved with every game.
Yes please from me.

On the contrary..I think he is something special. Get him here on a full season loan and SOD/ ROK will get the best out of him.

Agreed entirely with some more coaching we can definitely use a player of his calibre. Some folks have been watching different matches from the majority of us I think.

I took the original post as suggesting we forget about Sharp and go for JET?
If that were the case then I would have to disagree. If I am mistaken, I apologise and it's a defo yes to try and get him on another loan - I doubt many Rovers fans would argue against it?

Billy and JET for me.

JET is an awesome player, who will flourish under this system. I think if we had a season long loan deal from the off, I would not be surprised if Sean tweaked the tactics/systems slightly to get JET even more involved.

JET was quiet at Blackpool away, but one got the distinct impression he was playing to rule ie he would not leave the left wing position and saw little of the ball (although frustratingly he never shouted for it or demanded it neither). In hindsight, we were actually up against a very good midfield and full backs that may have triggered this tactic...In hindsight, we were probably up against a very good team, as we now know.

I'll 2nd that, Cussie. Trouble is, Billy is looking more and more unlikely as the days go by.

The other areas of the team strengthening are of concern to me, as well. Still no Oster/Hayter signings, no new CB or midfielder and no replacement for Gareth.

Billy would have been quiet at Blackpool away, he was n`t playing! so I very much doubt he would have shouted for the ball either  ;)

I don't mean forget about signing Billy, of course it would be great if we got him. I was just making a point about maybe we need to not get out hopes up as much as we are and concentrate on bringing in other quality players (for maybe cheaper) rather than hanging our hopes on signing a player that may take all summer to make a decision and then end up leaving us short.
