Well Barry is injured so he won't be playing, apart from that I would be happy to see that team turn out against USA. To be honest I forgot about Milner so would probably swap him for Lennon as I thinks he could shine this world cup.

Here we go then:

Hart

Johnson --- King ---Terry ---A.Cole

Lennon --- Milner --- Lampard --- J Cole

              Gerrard

               Rooney

Was very tempted to say James in for Hart (and I think Fabio will pick James) due to experience, but in my opinion Hart is the best keeper in England and I would trust him.

Milner would probably be asked to sit and allow Lampard to get forward, with Barry adopting Milner's role when fit.

I don't always think playing two strikers is the most attacking method, midfield is probably our greatest strength so I'd pick a range of good attacking midfield players to support Rooney. Aside from Crouch, I'm not really convinced by any of our other strikers at international level.

Plan B would be dropping Gerrard back into midfield at the expense of Milner, and playing Heskey up alongside Rooney, purely because they link so well together.

Oh and the goalkeeper and strikers wouldn't all be playing down the right, it just seems to have formatted that way!

Green

Johnson Terry King Cole

Lennon Milner Lampard Gerrard

Heskey Rooney

Heskey just brings a prescence and links the whole team up well.  He's not the best individual but he's good for the team and I expect Fabio will play him.

Go with Jonathon's team, expect Barry for Lennon or Milner when fit.  Did I read that James is unavailable for USA game?

I don't know why people are saying SWP. He's done nothing for Man City, and as much as I used to like the kid, he's never ever done it for England. I also despise David James

So my team (spoken like Mike Bassett) will play Four, four f******* two!:

Green - makes few errors. Like Hart though and he'll be number 1 soon

Johnson - Quicker than Carragher and that's the only reason.
Terry - Still a good centre half.
King - definitely for the first 2 games, fingers crossed we can rest him for the Slovenia game.
A. Cole - little choice.

Lennon - deadly one on one
Gerrard - bring him central until Barry's fit
Lampard - hopefully can play with Stevie
J.Cole - completely torn between him and the in-form Milner. Just think for the first game Cole has the 'nous and experience' to cope with the pressure

Heskey - useless at scoring. Useful to the team and Rooney.
Rooney - just sneaks in there
