France v Uruguay

One of the worst games iv watched in ages.

France are hopeless. Think we would batter them if we met.

Looked like they went for a draw.

It was a very poor game, no worries about either of these teams should they move into the later rounds. Had to watch it with the volume down however, I'm suffering from............SONIC ATTACK ; it was like a Hawkwind concert !!

Agree with all the comments. That was awful!

South Africa vs Mexico was okay, but I hope today's games aren't an indication of whats to come in the weeks ahead.

To be fair, i thought both of today's games were dire. I don't think the s.Africa game was any better than the game just played.

Both games were played at very low tempo despite it being pretty cool in temperature there.

One good thing so far has been the officials. I think they have been excellent thus far.

Anyone else think Raymond Domenech didnt want to win it?

Gets Henry ready to come on with about 20 mins to go, and you think here we go, a cheeky reshuffle and go three up top, but no, he pulls Anelka off.

No wonder the French public are up in arms.  The guy has as much tactical awareness as an amoeba.

I didn't see either of the matches. Wish I had now. Must have been quite a spectacle from what you just said Rob :) Never seen that before on the old tele.

Cheers

You need to re-view any old Peter Greenaway films from the 80s, Bob.  Virtually the same.

The French public didn't want Domenech even before he was appointed and promoted from the 'Espoirs' (U-21s).  At the time, I think that they would rather have appointed my Gran.  Typically French, though, their FA decided that because people didn't want it, that's exactly what they'd get!

The officials have had good games between them. My only criticism would be perhaps they have shown a couple of harsh yellow cards, when in the PL, the referee would have talked to the player and maybe gave him a warning.

Yes and probably got a load of abuse off said player for his pains.

Being in France and having watched France in its last friendlies I was not surprised by their dire performance (same as the last world cup where they played well once to beat Brazil and reach the final).  Can't see it happenning this year.  Group A looks very weak.

I've seen Rovers play like those 4 teams many a time under SOD. Its called \"not getting beat\". To the fanatical Rovers fan its like \"Arsenal of the North\" football. To the guy who wants entertainment its called \"tippy tappy\" football. Passing it around slowly waiting for the defenders to get back. Saw it all today.

I think most of the 1st round matches will be the same unless an early goal is scored.

Cant wait for N Korea vs Greece. I might find a door to paint.

tip, 4:3 to Greece lol
