The start of a new week............
« on June 27, 2010, 07:39:05 am by rover-n-out »
.....tomorrow, and I for one am really looking forward to some  movement (inwards hopefully) regarding players. I've been here in Turkey for nearly 2 weeks, even brought me laptop so I could keep up with events back home, but must say it's been disappointing regarding news from DRFC.
Maybe they are saving news until players contracts expire in a few days and then bombard us with signings. :)
I really do hope that Oster and Hayter have been tied down already, with news of that to be announced this week.

Is Oster waiting to see what happens on the Billy front, as he has openly stated that Rovers need to show some ambition this coming season and push forward. If we don't get Billy will Oster also decide to move on?. Oster (imo) is a genuine \"name\" player, and the board surely must bust a gut (within what the club deems necassery) to hold on to a player of his quality.I thought he was superb last season, and player of the season for me.

If Billy accepts our terms, Oster and Hayter re-sign, I think with the squad we have, we are definitely good enough to mount a serious challenge and secure at least a play off place.
There's nothing for us to be afraid of in this league, apart from injuries.

As for next season, I hope we get a good powerful CH on loan, as well as JET.

IMO I believe it's our lack of power/height that would hold us back from even greater things. We need to stick with the policy of footy and players that play, but we need a physical side too. We struggle to compete against the bigger clubs in this area and this cost us last season and in previous seasons. We can match them for possession and footy, but lose out on the old power play. Blackpool are a prime example of a smaller club having a physical side to match their football.

We are going the right way and with Friend and hopefully Brooker to come back. If we get a big footballing CH, then we will have a physically strong powerful back line (assuming it stays free from injury).

Up front, is a mystery at the moment. Brooker, Billy????, both can cope physically and hold the ball and trouble defences.

That leaves the midfield. I'm happy with this for now, but the icing on the cake would be a Huddlestone type loan player.

Players out of contract this week and so many clubs have yet to sign anybody at all. Maybe reality will bite them in the bum and then the market can get real at last. It will be a week for big news one way or another I reckon, with BS finally making up his mind (???) and other free signings coming our way maybe (????).

Let's hope that good news week is here!

I wonder if this week will be 'next week,' or if it will be another week in which 'next week' will be a pivotal week.

I thought I'd read somewhere that SOD wanted all the new players in for the start of pre-season training - if that's the case, then this week is going to be a busy one! Whether its pivotal or not remains to be seen!
