Mesut Ozil

How can England lose to a team whose playmaker looks like that James Spader character in \"Secretary\" when he's on the vinegar strokes?

All Capello needs to do is to get David James dressed up in supsenders and a pencil skirt and chain his hands together to a the postand Ozil will be...errr...distracted

Gareth Barry needs to man-to-man mark him out of the game.  Stop Ozil playing and the Krauts are 50% less effective.

Well done Germany. We can rue the goal that was that wasn't and that arguably changes the game. But.... England's had flattered to deceive from game one of this World Cup. We look tired, lacking ambition, invention, passion. Germany have looked bright, fearless, fast and FULLY deserve the win. Fair play to them. I hope they go on and win it. Where do England go from here (apart from home obviously)?  We were f**king awful. Shown up for what we are today, sad to say.

Time to rebuild from top to bottom.

If we had lost 2-1 then we could have had an arugment for the goal that never was - but at 4-1 if does not make a blind bit of difference - but should not be allowed to be swept under the carpet by Blatter - but I bet he will try!

Disagree with that. At 2-2 (as it should have been), the game was changing significantly. Germany at that point were rocking, and the outcome may have been very different. However, it wasn't given, and England went in at half time 2-1 down. Germany were then able to hit us on the break (and very effectively, too). If the goal had stood, the shape of play may have been totally different - we will never know.

All that said, England lacked any real creativity, together with a total lack of defensive understanding, particularly from the midfield who left the back line exposed on too many occassions, especially the totally ineffective Gareth Barry.

Personally, I'd sack the lot of them (including the clueless Capello and Pearce), and start the next England game with a totally different eleven that those who embarrassed us at the World Cup.

I agree that had that goal been given it probably would have changed the game. You can't however forget about the fact that we could and should have been 4-1 down at that point.
The best team won end of.

I'm with you we were piss poor and should have been out of it long before then. Do our overpaid Prem. players really care about playing for their country.................it makes me wonder.

Capello, Pearce, Clemence! Give me a break. The players have been absolutely average for the four games & no way are they 'world class'. The odd one that may have been have been found out, the likes of Gerrard & Rooney have not stepped up to the plate. As for the likes of Terry, Barry, Heskey, Lampard (for the second world cup in succession) etc. Well they are no more world class than many a good Championship player is.

Just touched down in Sweden. How many did we win by then?  Were Terry, Rooney and Gerrard striding the world stage like the giants their pay packets suggest they are then?

Hmmm. I assume Ozil will be knocking one out over Maggie Gyllenhal' derriere then tonight. Actually, looking at the blart here in Sweden, he might not bevthw only one.

This place looks like the country where the OFF button on the machine that makes fit blonde lasses is knacked and nobody bothered to fix it.

Football eh? Who needs it?

I'd get down the opticians quick Bob. That's like saying you went to Barnsley and never saw anyone with strange bodily mutations.

Speaking from my experience, I'd imagine BST is hungrily skulking around the hotel lobby, looking just like his profile pic.

PS Saw a handful in Olso though, and Copenhagen & Gothenburg were really not bad at all

Having to travel more frequently for work these days, I'm starting to see a pattern to hotel lobbies.  You sit there with your laptop for the free wifi busily checking up on the days events on VSC, but that doesn't stop people from trying to engage you in conversation.  Lots of times I end up getting my stuff and going back to the room -- only to have it happen on the elevator as well!  Even have had to get off at a different floor and use the staircase to get to my room.  Not fun!  Hmmm, something about men being away from home in a hotel, they get a certain look about them!  ;)
