RADIO SHEFFIELD-TOBY FOSTER:

Anyone else sick to the back teeth of this radio station and in particular the fat cnut that pretended to play the drums on Phoenix Nights bad mouthing the Town and in particular the Mayor?

Their coverage of all things Mayoral almost borders on the obsessive and hardly a day goes by without some sort or snipe or cheap jibe at Peter Davies.

It would appear that all councils in South Yorkshire have to carryout a referendum on whether or not to adopt the mayoral system and it would appear that the radio station is attempting to sway opinion.

This is the same Radio Sheffield who have local government issues a little nearer home it would appear!

Doesn't matter if you're right or left wing. Or stuck somewhere in the middle. Folk from all sides can count themselves human if they can both laugh at themselves, and, acknowledge that alternative realities have sufficient validiy to impact on, and change, their own beliefs. Cheap or snide remarks tend to prove the opposite.

Typical right wingers response to criticism, tell people they are not allowed to criticise the great leader. Unfortunately for the current Donny mayor he showed himself to be just a little unprepared when asked whether or not a lot of his proposals were actually illegal. One would assume that this might have been thought out by a brighter person. Maybe that is why everybody finds him so dificult to work with, because they live in the real world.

I have no issue with Toby Foster's negative view of the mayor, indeed I share it, but back to the general point, Toby Foster is a facetious moron and the worst thing about Radio Sheffield. To redress the balance, their sports coverage is excellent and Seth Bennett is a top man.

I know him very well, he used to teach me at Danum, I would rather not go into specifics about his character.

Politically I just find him to be an empty mouthpiece. He makes a lot of noises that strike a chord emotionally with people that feel disenfranchised by mainstream politics, but when all is said and done I don't see much behind it. We are all entitled to our opinion and in my opinion he has had no positive effect on the borough at all. His major impact has been to lower morale within the council and, at a time when they are really struggling for resources to meet growing service demands in the face of vastly cut funding, make utterly ludicrous false promises to slash council tax.
