ghana v parquay that peno miss
« on July 02, 2010, 10:09:24 pm by not on facebook »
it's got to be said the parquay chap whostop the ball with his hand on the line....'pure 200 per cent cheating'

if not for the handball that ball was goal bound and ghana in semi final

now paraquay have a second chance in the peno shoot out

question

'should the refs have the power to allow the goal aswell as send the man off'

as ghana have come out worse off

just hope ghana win on spot kicks

For me, that was as bad as Henry's handball against Ireland, it seems cheats do prosper. And by the way it was Uragauy that they played ;)  :P

Crikey, the standard of spelling is definitely slipping.

It was Urugauy!

I thought Suarez maybe could have headed the ball clear anyway. I can only assume he chose to use his hands to get more direction on his clearance.

After it was given, you'd have expected Gyan to stick the ball in the net and be done with it anyway!

The whole thing does have similar vibes to the Thierry Henry scandal though.

It's absolutely nothing at all like Henry. The ONLY similarity is that it was handball. It stops there.

Henry blatantly cheated, was not punished for it and a goal was scored that put France through. Suarez handballed to prevent a goal and was FULLY punished for it. It isn't his fault that Gyan couldn't hit the target with the penalty.

Totally agree what an injustice when its a definite goal it should be awarded and the player who commits the offence,i mean cheats should be sent off. After watching Ghana lose like that will not be watching any more of the word cup

to answer the question, yes i think refs should be given the power to make the goal stand rather than giving a penalty, purely because it goes a long way to stopping cheats \"prospering\"

yeah and fancy havin it in yards. It should be in metres nowadays. I blame Maggie Thatcher for missing that penalty. Or was it the Jubalnitenpennyflyaway fault. Or Capello's ?

No it was blatantly Mark Wilson's fault!
Sorry couldn't resist
COAT ON AND LEAVING.

By the way - just to make it clear - this is a joke, and not a dig at Willo (who i rate highly and think does a great job for us)

I really dont know what everyone is moaning about, i would have done exactly the same as suarez and im sure most of us would, he knew he would get sent off and a penalty would be given, it was the only possible chance that Uruguay had of a chance at being in the semis, all this bs about he should be banned for more than the 1 game is as said its bull shit, Its nothing like Henry or maradonna, they didnt get punished for it and the opposing team didnt get the chance to right it. Ghana did and fluffed it.... Well played Suarez, if rovers are in this position i would hope our players would take one for the team on the hope the keeper saves or the pen is missed.

Exactly. If a Rovers player did it in a play off final he would be a hero!

Agreed too, you can't change the rules of football just to make sure the result'pans out' the way some of you would want it to be.
On this basis, do we replay our game with the Krauts because their keeper knew the ball was over the line for our goal ?

Incidentally why all this sudden support for Ghana against a little Uruguay (pop. 3,500,000). They've played well in this World Cup too!

Because it wasn't in the back of the net Oslo, we don't have 'penalty tries' in togger fella. This sort of event is what makes us all talk about footy and makes it so unpredictable but at the end of the day he was entitled to handball it however 'unfair' it seems.
If we make the game too predictable, we won't want to watch it anymore (1966 and all that!)

Oslo, on what basis should it have been given? it didnt cross the line therefore it cant be given, as harsh as everyone in the media is making it out to be its the laws of the game and have been applied correctly.

what campaign are are the likes of fifa/uefa/fa all trying to run these days???

you see it all the time on the addvert boards around the grounds in the massive competitions

'RESPECT'

france got away with it against the irish and ghana from where
i sse things suffered from the same 'cheating'

ok we can talk untill blue in the face that what the defender did was a reaction etc etc,but you cant hide the FACT that he 'cheated'

but the powers that be keep on turning a blind eye to such
incidents when they have more than the power to set their stall out for the future of the game.

it will take some sort of incident to happen in a major final,to which the whole world will be in uproar
before the mongs running the game decide to do something about it.

i dont have the answer as to what the powers can/should be doing, thats not my job as i dont get paid bucket fulls of cash to look after the game of football
