Anybody Else In A Bit Of A Daze?
« on July 05, 2010, 05:11:21 pm by SkellowRover »
Just been sat reflecting how today has shown us how far we have come as a club over the last 12-13 years and if i'm being honest it's left me feeling all \"wow how the feck has all this happened?\" if you know what i mean?

Back in 1980 when i first started going to games with my dad everything DRFC left me in awe, and i spent years following the club through it's ups and downs and then the cnut Richardson arrived. Seriously back in 98' could any of us have dreamed that in 2010 we would be in the 2nd tier of English football, playing some of the best football in the country and making £1m+ pound signings?

JR thank you, sincerely from the bottom of my heart i thank you for all you have done for my club that i thought would cease to exist when we were relegated out of the league. Thank you for taking hold of the club like a bull by the horns and making us rise like a phoenix from the ashes to what we have now.

I've always felt proud to be a rover but today is so significant in our history, today i feel we have really arrived and shown our hands at this level and with JR's enthusiasm the sky is the limit.

COME ON YOU RED AND WHITE SUPER HOOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great post. Truly historic times for our club. Made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck.

All this hasn't really sunk in yet. Being of a more 'advanced' age you take these things in your stride.

I've seen comments about folks wetting their pants and I'm thinking get a grip !

So,we've spent £1.2m on a player ??? A player who wanted to come here to Donny Rovers instead of Leeds Burnley etc ??? Then you tell me we might be getting his old strike partner Andy Keough on loan..and it doesn't stop there, more loanees and a Nike kit ????

Oh shit...who needs porn !!

When i first started as a Donny fan in the last 90's, as a kid i was always bullied and not because of social issues but i was a Donny fan. In Doncaster. While friends used to brag about Radebe, Cantona and other illustrious names, My hero was Barry Miller. Now some people will be saying who at that.

Truth to be told i was content with the Stoke day out, i was'nt expecting to see my team grace division 3. Then you know the next bit. So when we reached the promised land of the Championship, i am ectastic at every game. Why? Because when you've been away to Southport.....A small defeat away at Plymouth will never compare

I also must admit, i never thought i'd see us spend a million pounds until 2020 so to see this is astounding. Its great to see ambition AND common sense prevailing in Rovers

Finally Good luck to the hero, Billy Shap!

Great post, totally agree on it all.

I started going when we got relegated to the Conference. Just about everyone (aside from one Newcastle 'fan' I think) in my class supported Man Utd, they didn't quite get why I ignored Keane, Scholes, Beckham, Cole & Yorke for Duerden, Warrington, Walling, Caldwell and Kirkwood!

Today we're wrapping up a deal for a million pounds...I was blown away by the money we spent on Justin Jackson, never expected this. Such a stark contrast to those days out at Margate, Stalybridge and Southport...we're live on the BBC this season against Sheffield United. Brilliant.

Couldn't agree more, a great post that sums up what we all are thinking. In addition you must also give yourselves a 'pat on the back'for your support and funding of our great club.
All that we are has attracted a young, sensible lad to want to play in front of us and moreover play for the management in the right way and with some fantastic team-mates.
The way he was treated at the Players Awards, on the terraces and with such initiatives as the Sharpshooter Fund made this an easy decision for an honourable player who keeps to his word.
