I would have thought no.24 was his favourite number he had it at Scunny and at Sheff United. Sharp is a born no.10 for me.

I reckon our #10 is jinxed.

Jackson
Rigoglioso
Spicer (was great as #20 but shouldn't have changed!)

(Awaits Rigo to plough into another Gareth Taylor argument  ;)  )

Hayter has been allocated a squad number but I don't recall seeing anything on DROS regarding him signing a new contract!

Hopefully Billy will be number 10, and not number 8, taking over Stock's number, should he leave.
I have doubt about Stock's future at Rovers following Gillet's imminent signing, and wonder if his sale would subsidise Billy's fee.

I just hope that we haven't been given the good news before the bad news.

If Stock were to leave, which doesn't look likely, SOD would want him replaced. Think back to what SOD said prior to the summer break - he wanted a striker, a midfielder and a centre back and a replacement for any out of contract players who doesn't sign their new deals. It follows that if one of the contracted players was sold, we would replace him.

Look at the difference in the players that left last summer and the likely replacements - most people would agree that we have improved the squad immeasureably. Why would we not, therefore, replace our captain with someone of equal (or better) quality?

Maybe the bad news is O'Connor going to the Blades as part of the Sharp deal.

That would leave us with no RB, as Chambers is injured. Any case, its a straight cash deal for Billy.

If Stock were to leave, perhaps SOD already has his replacement (Gillett).
I agree that the squad was improved upon last season, despite Mills and Wellens' departure, and no doubt in my mind that it is improved more for next season.
Despite my opinion that Mills and Wellens were replaced by better players (Shackell and Oster), I think the squad lacked strength in depth and in an ideal world it would have been good to keep them.
For the same reason it would be sad to see Stock go, even if a better replacement is found.
Alas we live in the real world and players are sold to make way for replacements.

I'd hate to see Stock go too but when you consider how much influence he actually had last year with all the injury problems we nearly know already what its like to be without him.

Obviously what we want is a season with him fully fit, if his body's capable of that then its happy days.
