BS – Wants to continue where he left off last season
JR – Purchase done outside of usual budget, credit to the board. Billy is a special player, not just in terms of goals, but attitude, goal celebrations etc. Fans are are willing him to score
BS – Plan each year is to finish higher than the last year, achieved it last season, and want to do it again. Important to get a good start. He is just one of the lads and part of the team.
JR – Signing is testament to the progress made, Billy is the biggest signing in the history of the club.
JR – Rovers have the best midfield in the Championship, Billy will get plenty of ammunition, and Ryan hopes he wins the golden boot.

Just got back from the press conference where bobjimwilly and I were representing the VSC. We've got Steve Uttley's permission to put up a full recording of the press conference and that is being sorted by my much more technically gifted colleague as I write. As you will be able to see and hear for yourselves what was said before Sky, Seth Bennett and Look North grabbed their exclusives, I'm not going to repeat it on here. But we did manage to grab a word with Mr Sharp senior on the way out, who told us Rovers was the only place Billy ever wanted to come after last season and the decision to sign for the club was easy once it was obvious his prospects at Sheffield Utd would be limited.
Burnley did offer a lot of money but Billy said 'it didn't feel right' so I guess that's a big vote of confidence in the way Rovers are managed, on and off the field.
There was no mention of other signings but by what JR was telling reporters, Brian Stock is going nowhere at present.

How refreshing in this day and age for a player to put his football before his wage packet. We've got a real diamond there.
