Keogh \"Tentative Enquiry\" Confirmed
« on July 08, 2010, 08:28:56 am by Alan Southstand »
On deedah this morning both SOD and Billy were talking about the possibility of getting Andy Keogh from Wolves. Billy has already spoken to him and he'd love to come to Donny. You've got to hand it to Billy - he's a Rover now, allright.

SOD has made 'tentative' enquiries about his 'availability'.

Bring it on.

This is unreal. I did wonder if there was a bit of truth in the Keogh rumour after that thread last night was removed so it seems to be gathering pace. What a signing that would be and what a front line those 2 would be with players like JET/Copps/Hayter playing off them.

When I get into heated debates with the arrogant Forest fan at work I used to point out that their right back , Chris Gunther, cost 3 (maybe 4) times what we paid for our entire squad but now we've sent out a real message of intent that we're a solid and dangerous championship side.

I'll never forget what we did to QPR and reckon a few more teams could get a lesson like that this season.

Sign him, Jet, and a couple of Loan defenders who can make an instant impact and im going to be putting more than a cheeky tenner on us going up.

I have already put £10 ew and a fiver on King Billy for top scorer. If you wait while there are more good signings ( and there will be ) the odds will drop through the floor. GET IT ON.

As a non betting man - might break the habit of a lifetime this season though - how can you put an each way bet on going up? Either you do or you don't!

Ravenrover.
You can get 66/1 on us to win The Championship. If you put a E/W bet on us you will get a quarter of the odds to finish in the top three.
So if we finish third but lost in the play-offs you would still collect on the bet.

We are 16/1 To Get Promoted. You are right that you can't make an E/W bet in this market.

DeeBee.
I have been looking on Oddschecker almost every day waiting for the Handicap betting market and Top Goalscorer market to open. Have you found someone offering odds already? Can I have a link please.

Now don't get me wrong I'd be as happy as a teenager with unlimited access to internet porn if we were to sign Keogh but, where would we fit him in?

Does he play just behind Billy? Do we go two up top.  Where does this leave Copps, Shiels and the recently contracted Hayter? Where does it leave Brooker and Fairhurst, both of which I think most fans are desperate to see progress this season.

The same applies to JET and Mutch, I can't see us needing another body in that area unless we get an injury.

Glad I'm not in charge.  :P

Brooker and Fairhurst as impact subs
JET can play in defence and midfield so that says it all
Mutch also has a great role as a impact sub

Lets not forget guys, we don't have JET yet so don't worry about where we would play players we haven't even got. The rumour is that we are waiting to see if he has a place in the arsenal first-team squad (doubtful). I do genuinely think we will make an offer to Keogh to join us on loan, possibly season-long, and that if that is the case, perhaps we wouldn't require the services of JET. I agree with most that a support center-back would be preferred at this stage as we are now beginning to bolster a deep midfield and forward squad (depending on the loaning of Keogh) wherein players are competing for a first-team place, which is ideal for us.

As for this season, I would like to see Stocky return in full and watch how he links up with Oster, I want to see more from Woodsy similar to the start of last season and I am also intrigued as to how Billy may play alongside Keogh in their hopeful reunion.

Finally, I hope SOD gives Fairhurst a starting chance in the smaller cup games as I am a fan of his developing talent and am eager to see more, and whatever happened to Mustapha Dumbuya? I always thought he had good pace and added an attacking edge to the wing in LWB position.

Dumbaya played at Askern last night.  Got a bit of a bashing from SOD at half time for some of his distribution etc, in the main he was ok though.

Anyhow, Keogh would be a great signing, be tough to complete but if we can we're looking strong.  Our squad is certainly looking strong now already, Keogh and a centre half and we're done IMO.  Not sure what role JET would have if we sign Keogh.

No Chambers, Dave?  I thought Chambo was excellent for us last season, with only the one aberration towards the end (the WBA game, when he fell asleep twice and we let 2 goals in).

I wouldn't say were anywhere near 'done' and I wouldn't say we look that much stronger than last year.

Yes we've brought in Sharp, Gillett and Friend, all of whom I feel will be good additions to the squad. But don't forget, we're now much lighter on numbers last year after losing Robbo and the loanees, meaning that in central defence, we don't have a player of the calibre of Shackell or Ward to partner Martis, we have no cover LB, and we are much lighter on strikers after letting go of Heffs and Guy.

Our signings so far have been good, but I still think there is work to be done. We still need a commanding centre-back, maybe some cover for Left-back, and then we need at least 4 others so that we have got some half-decent back up when the injuries and such start coming in when the season gets going.

I thought Hird had a dodgy season last season, especially compared to the previous 2 years. Very inconsistent. But it's all about opinions I guess.

I think Martis has the experience to go in there, and I think he will get better as he settles in here. If we stay as we are, I'd be tempted to stick Locky at the side of Martis instead of Hird tbh. I can't remember many occasions on which Locky has let us down when he has been given a chance.

i have to admit i do prefer locky to hird but he didnt have a kick really last season so if i were SOD i would have him playing in all the friendlies we have so he has abit of match practise before the start of the season

I'd be willing to give Jimmy another go at CB, I know he's a right back, but when he played there towards end of last season he played really well, shows his versatility and IMO is the best all round defender we have at the club.

Apprantley Weeds and the dingles are also after Keogh

Quote
Doncaster are hoping to take Wolves striker Andy Keogh on loan for the new season but Leeds and Barnsley are also keen on the striker.

Leeds have not been able to agree a fee with Wolves to take the 24-year-old to Elland Road and Barnsley have also come across the same problem as Wolves look for the best price they can get.
Doncaster want to re-unite the Republic of Ireland international with his striker partner from Scunthorpe, Billy Sharp, and are looking to negotiate a loan deal for the player.
Their manager Sean O'Driscoll said: \"To put Andy and Billy together again is something to consider.
\"You talk to a lot of clubs about players without making a concrete offer and we've done that with Andy.
\"It will all depend on what Andy's situation is with Wolves.
\"He knows a lot of our players and he certainly interests us
