Anyone,

What the score with the pitch ?

Has any progress been made or are we playing on concrete again this coming season ?

How come we dont go back to 100% grass ?

its common knowlodge that rovers game is better on a good surface.

I'm no expert but the pitch is 97% grass (3% fibre to stop it cutting up). The hardness is down to the sand base and the  super efficient drainage,I think.

Surely all grass would be better? I know that the old BV pitch cut up badly at times, also went bald in places at times in the goal area and sometimes down the edges where the lino's ran, but generally speaking the pitch stood up well to a season's worth of football. No plastic bits interwoven into that pitch. Usually it was a credit to all the groundsmen who ever worked it.

Old BV turf was generally regarded as one of the best in the Football League - even Wembley wanted to buy it after that was ruined by a Horse of the Year show.

How about some thoughts/feedback from the current groundsman?
