Quorn FC friendly
« on July 11, 2010, 10:17:33 am by LE6Rover »
Can somebody confirm for me ...

The friendly against Quorn on the 14th is NOT being played at Quorn FC, but is being played at \"Sutton Park\" (is that the one near Sutton Coldfield?).

It's just that the Quorn FC web site lists it as a home fixture (with no details about an alternative venue) and a mate who lives opposite their ground tells me the board outside lists the annual Crewe frindly on the 12th and our game on the 14th as both being home games.

I know the match was linked with some development camp at Warwick University, but Sutton Park is almost as far from Warwick as Quorn so I don't really understand!

out of interest
what is our connection to quorn f.c. and why are we playing such a game 100 miles away from doncaster , instead of giving funding to worksop or gainsborough or goole etc etc

Thanks Rigo

I'm pretty sure it's at Quorn as well now - I was going to ring them tomorrow.  Let us know if you hear anything.

Maybe I was confused, but I thought it was all about something in Warwick.

Anyway, I'll be there for sure now as its not too much of a stretch to get there!

It's 62 miles actually ;-)

But I agree with your point.

Crewe play every year because of Luke Varney, but unless we have spotted some talent there I don't really see the link.

Nice little ground and clubhouse (paid for by that Varney transfer).

p.s.
If the traffic isn't shit on the M1, I'd get off at J23 and skirt round Loughbro' rather than get off at J24 and trundle along on the A6.

The game is being played at Quorn FC as far as I can tell.

I have e-mailed them for clarification anyway. Will post again when I receive a reply.

How you getting there Rigo? Me and Chris Wright are going. It can be done by train and taxi but its just hassle and expensive. Anyone going in cars?

If supporters club are adament about not doing travel. Bit short notice, could do an 8 seater from Keepmoat if enough interest.

Well if i had to hazard a guess, Crewe seem to see something there, Varney came out of that club so maybe we're trying to have a look ourselves

As discussed/fathomed on the Home/Away Match Board... Sutton Park is the name of Quorn FC's ground, in Quorn.

The match was provisionally down to be played at the University of Warwick, but the details on DROS changed to 'Sutton Park' on Friday.

Out of interest, at half time, will I be able to buy a beefburger that contains meat at Quorn, or are they all soya substitutes?

When I made the thread in the H&A section, thats the sort of impression I got, think my words came out a bit wrong Paul   .

We also did that minibus to Morecambe other year didn't we?

If some travel does get put on, me & 1 more are deffo up for it.
Will have to blag something to put in my shoebox as proof of visiting that ground.

Taken from an O'Driscoll interview on the OS about Steve Brooker....

....He'll hopefully get some games while we are in Warwick or in Devon.\"

I hope someone has told Sean the game is at Quorn.
