Thursdays At The Ritzy
« on July 22, 2010, 09:01:18 pm by Crowle Rover »
That earlier post about Trilogy and Donnys nightlife got me thinking about the old \"alternative\" nights at The Ritzy circa late 80s/early 90s.
Used to go for an hour or two to The Hallcross then get to Ritzy for about 10.
There was no dress code and you used to get a good mix in there.
The music was mainly indie ,\"Madchester\" and the highlight of the night, 12 oclock rock which usually started with Acid Reigns version of \"Hanging On The Telephone\" and finished with \"Ghostbusters\" by Xentrix
There was also a small side room which used to play dance music.
Anybody else go?

...and before that it was the \"Hot Tub Club\" in the upstairs room at Rotters (as the Ritzy was then). Plenty of good nights had in there.

Yep I remember the small side room. It was usually fairly empty, the lads in there liked to blast out the sub-sonic bass sound of The Theme by Unique 3. They had some microphones rigged up and would spend most of the night rapping over it.
