Has anyone got that clip of the horrendous tackle on Dave Moss on YouTube to attach - it could’ve snapped his leg in two - but being a lad from Rossington he just got up, dusted himself down & got on with it
Ok potentially Wycombe Wanderers might "win" promotion after technically finishing 8th but CLH remembers one team finishing lower than that in the league and consequently "winning" .... somethingA) what is the name of that team

While we had played a disproportionate amount of home games when the season ended, the two games in hand at Bolton and Tranmere which would if played at the time almost certainly have got us 6 points, and made it a little closer to the top 6 but not quite there on ppg.

So we already had those points.
Quite a few teams have qualified for Europe after a crap season just by winning the Welsh Cup.

still no takers
Your question seems to have changed completely, so I give up.I thought we were trying to identify a team that had finished lower than 8th place in the third tier then won something as a result of finishing in that position.
Your hints are seemingly trying to guide us towards Newcastle United winning the UEFA Fairs Cup after finishing 10th the previous season. But 10th in the old First Division isn't lower than 8th in the third tier
Swindon Town won the League Cup while a third division club.If I remember right we did the double over them even though we were relegated. 1-0 both games.
