Good luck with the WC :) I hate summer, I always end up signing loads of players, most of which I don't need and quickly move on..

Well I won the world cup. Beat Australia, Argentina, France and Holland in the knock out stages.

Over the summer I couldn't get the right winger I wanted although rather randomly I signed one of the top 3 keepers in the world from Rangers for only £2.5m although after renewing a few contracts I'm at my wage maximum.

My unbeaten run came to an end after only the second game of the season (Man U again!) and Arsenal an P4 W4 without conceding yet so it could be a tougher campaign than last year.

I've stayed on as England manager but face a bit of a test as a lot of my WC winning players are now a bit old but luckily I am the host of Euro 28 so will have plenty of friendlies instead of qualifiers to try new players out.

Interesting stuff. Never actually managed a national team by earning it  and I've never actually played that far into a save (mainly because they always corrupt :headbang: ) so I'll have to crack on with that.

What would you say the strongest department of your club and country squads were?

Looks like a decent squad. I'd let go of Fairhurst, Sully and Brooker. Depending on whether or not you're on the latest patch (11.3, I believe), also get rid of Sousa (if you have him - as I say, he's only on 11.3).

the only players i have got are the ones i have put down in my last post and i have sent gk. woods out on loan so ive got sully as back up suppose i could let fairhurst go and get a bit more wages and get a left winger in ?? i also sold shiels because he tought he was bigger than the club hahahaha

Delron Buckley would be a good signing if you can get hold of him, doesn't always show up for some reason though. There's also a Huddersfield winger that I'm always linked with at the start of the game who's reasonably cheap. Try to sing Joe Mason at Plymouth - offer them 250k at first and 750k after 50 appearances and he should come.

Easily defence. Plenty of quality defenders about. Hardest I'd say are wingers, took me a while to crack that situation. Particularly as I find most wingers who can also play in the centre (AM r/c & AM l/c) prefer to be in the centre than on the wing. Whilst there are plenty of good ones about, beware a lot of DM's who have low tackling or low marking. Particularly the continental DM's.

Also good luck to you Burton  - I know theres lots of posts in this thread but theres a few tips to be contained earlier in this thread.

Been very busy decorating over this weekend and at paintballing all day tommorow so not much time too play at the moment but might be able to sneak half hour in if im lucky.

Think im going to start in December to give me a chance to get a grip with tactics.

Going to go and sell Martin Woods and loan Gary Woods out, sell Brooker and loan Fairhurst. Give Payne a 3 year deal as he's supposed to be a great prospect who i don't want to lose to be honest.

Looking at signing Alex Smithies for 600k and that youngster from Plymouth,Joe ?
Like to loan Wood from West Brom for the season and maybe try and get a solid defender and Demerit on a free.

Then see how i do.

Finished the 2026/27 season. Champions again (5 in a row) with 98 points and 117 goals - my key playesr really are hitting their peaks at the moment. Also won the FA Cup, lost the league cup final on penalties and got beat by Inter in the CL semis.

Managing England is a bit boring due to only playing friendlies at the moment but its letting me try out a few players.

The AC Milan job came up and I got a bit tempted but I want more European success with Rovers first.

Well started the game again and decided to take a ruthless approach to those out of contract in the summer.

Spoke to all the players out of contract and had a look at there demands, sadly Brian Stock wanted 14k a week and i just cannot offer him that so i transfer listed him for a million which upset a few players including Dean Shiels who was very annoyed and demanded a transfer so i never stood in his way and a 500k plus 100k for 6 month was accepted and hes moved onto West Brom.

Gary Woods has been sent to Tranmere on loan for 3 month in a deal which i will pick up 100k and it should help develop the boy,i have offered him a new deal at suitable terms,im looking at signing Basso as his replacement and then see what he's like after a season on loan.

I have managed to arrange a few friendlys to fetch in additonal cash, home games against Chelsea,Arsenal,Tottenham,Celtic,Rangers,Wolves,Sunderland and Oxford to help prepare for the season.

I upped the boards expectations to a top half finish for a bigger budget too mainly to tie down new contracts.

Well im hoping somebody can provide me with loads of tips on how to be successful as manager of Doncaster Rovers.

I’ve tried and failed so many bloody times and it’s getting so frustrating, im a massive football manager fan and I’m determined to do well as manager of Rovers but I just seem to fail each and everytime, my latest attempt ended in me getting the sack after losing 17 games in a row in the league and sinking to rock bottom, I have no complaints about being sacked as that record is atrocious.
I rarely win games no matter who I sign..

The board expect me to finish around midtable and give me 350k to achieve this, last time round is signed just free agents as that’s all I could really budget for unless I sold my main players, Stock, Sharp and Woods and I just wasn’t prepared to do that.

I had Chelsea as a parent club and loaned some exciting players but no matter who I get they just seem to under perform and morale is just so low and it’s hard to motivate the players.

So please tell me where I am going wrong because its getting me so downbeat but I wont give in!!!

So im going to spend all night researching on tactics, signings, tips, hints and everything.

Thanks !

I'll try and give you some pointers but I don't know how much it will help.

I'm pressuming you'll be on the 10.3 patch so all Jan transfers are done. On the plus side JOC and Dumbuya are pretty good

Tactics. I go for a 4-2-3-1 with 3 attacking midfielders. We don't have many AM but they are effective when bridging the gap between CM and ST

Set the team as 2/3rds on the slider to attacking. Same for freedom. Short passing at a medium tempo. High defensive line and about 2/3 width (its a narrow formation anyway)

On Match Prep put the team on Team Blend on V high until the levels are full. Takes a few months

Put Billy as a target man with targetting to feet. Have your 3 AM as attacking and the 2 CM as ball winning or 1 as ball winning, 1 as deep lying playmaker (Stock is good for this). I personally put my middle AM as the playmaker regardless of who it was because its a great area to get the ball too

Get rid of some of our players. Shiels (~500k), Locky (~200k), Brooker (~100k) gets you a bit of money

The areas you need to address are GK, CB, LB and a AM (Sounds familiar).

GK - Basso, Roy Caroll aren't available. Alex Smithies from Hudd for about 500k if you want to splash the cash but he doesn't become good for a few seasons.

LB - Best go for the loan option with Danny Wilson (Liverpool) or George Elikobi (Wolves) realistic targets. You'll do well to get both but I'd try as Wilson can play CB. Or Jordan Spence

CB - Not a lot of options here. Goncalves isn't on this patch. Shittu has been signed. Calum Davenport should be available and is worth the money. Failing that i'd settle for Demerit over anyone else we have

AM - Go to the loans again. You already have Woods, Hayter, Shiels. I got JET which helped but whoever you parent club is they normally send you a midfielder

If that fails then go into data editor and alter the stats of a player!! My friend got Exeter promoted and made Jamie Cureton worth about £8 mill

Good luck

Caroll is available on the latest patch, but very good shouts above.

GF - no internet for ages :-( and I've started countless saves, haven't really gotten into any of them. I'll let you know once I get a good one going.

Just started a new game as Rovers.
Not bothered with newest patch though for some reason!

After first few games i'm mid table. Beat Dingles, Sheff Utd and Preston. Lost to Leeds and Forest and Wendies in league cup, drew with Hull.

Signed Basso, Demerit, Shittu and Stephen Darby a right back on loan from Liverpool.

Coppinger, Shiels, JOC and Wilson were all unhappy so were sold.

I need a decent stiker on loan to partner Billy. Any suggestions?

Leigh Griffiths,is banging them in for  me in my second season. Better finishing  than Sharp! Only 21 years old. Got him from somewhere in Scotland. Scottish under 21.
Also Mark Howard is playing great in Defence.I'm selling Martis and Lockwood.

Jordan Mutch has been great on loan for me for the past 3 seasons...I would have signed him permanently but this is the reply i got from Birmingham when I made an enquiry

\"Birmingham would like £16.8m and Billy Sharp for Jordan Mutch\"

Funnily enough I turned it down and loaned him again instead.

Just signed him on my own game (the save corrupted, surprise bas**rd surprise!) and he's banging them in.

 I got that when I tried to buy him, but I got them down to £10million and Billy, cos Billy's been crap for us. Watch him score tonnes next season...

Started a new one with Rovers...

I know how much you have to change the squad to succeed so no messing about this time round, offered a number of players contracts so far.

Anderson Silva - free
Adriano Basso - free
Bernard Mendy - free
Jay Demerit - free
Michael Ball - free
Febian Brandy - free
Jose GonCalves - free
Jason Euell - 250k

Accepted a bid of 600k for Martin Woods from Blackpool,Ipswich and Bristol, just need him to agree terms.

Asked my board for a parent club and there trying to get me one, hopefully a decent team with good youngsters, might sell Hayter and fetch and Brooker and fetch in Sears from West Ham on loan but not sure.

Will i be ok?

SHOULD be fine with that. I'd also try and get hold of another centre midfielder (especially if Woods is outbound)

Got all those except Mendy who went to Sunderland.
Do really 2 midfielders may be needed, any ideas who though ?

I'm still early into preseason, beat the reserves 5-0 and also beat Hyde 5-0 and 3-1 up against Stoke at the moment, just waiting to find out the extent of Silvas injury as he has been great in his first 2 games.

Woods went Bristol and Gary Woods joined Tranmere on loan, got Arsenal as my parent club and they want to send me Eastmond,he could be 1 of the 2 midfielders maybe....
Looking good,Any more suggestions ?
