Richie knows how to play the game. He had Donny over a barrel and knew his best interests was to wait till the last minute to sign.

The way he played QPR in two games must have got Harry really excited he was brilliant.

Its the second time Richie has left our club for money  but I think Duffy is a better player and Syers has something to prove, the show goes on.

Thanks for the effort Richie and I hope we don't miss you.

Hey, but it's ok. As long as we don't spend too much money and are 'sustainable'.
Of course, Wellens himself said in November he didn't know what would be happening now JR had gone and the takeover deal was dead

IDIOT.

We still may not have been able to match QPR wages, even with further investment.  If QPR offer him the moon on a stick we can't match that.

Actually gone, has he?

Yeah, did you not know his contract expired on the 1st? Today is the 3rd.

Yes I did, you pedant.  OK, I'll re-phrase it, actually signed for QPR has he?

But had we agreed a contract and he signed it in November we wouldn't be having this argument would we?
Its not as though it hasn't happened before has it?

Maybe his agent advised him not to sign early?

Yep groundhog day!
In 2009 wellens informed the club was signing for Leicester and left us to sort out compo as he had 1 year left on his contract

He will.

We could have offered him one last month, Dickov tells all the press we've offered him one and its now up to Ritchie that would have put [pressure on him to sign it. Whereas now he's easily able to go to any other club

This is very frustrating and disappointing. I will be accused of over reacting but this could be season over he is that important to how we play. Not quite sure how we will get someone with RW class on our budget.

I have no doubt he has played us here but we do let this happen time and time again.

Or Harry Forrester's. That's what agents are for.

Harry Forrester refused to sign a contract and wanted to leave. Slight difference.

Or even Wellens' own agent when we first signed him from Oldham

Let's move on

Still will be in the eyes of the VSC, still baffles why they have an agenda against them.

Oh really? So Wellens has not been offered an 18 month contract then? You sure about that?

QPR won't sign him. He wouldn't get in their 3rd team.

A contract offer may be the result of a period of discussion with his agent.  Doesn't mean nothing was done beforehand  :headbang:

Well, whatever way you want to wrap it up, this is a disaster for us. IMO Wellens is/was our best player by a country mile and it looks like he's gone. To be replaced by who? Someone who's been on loan at a League 2 club? Keegan?

Good luck to Richie, not many seasons left at top level so he must make it while he can, not many been better than him for us in midfield-except-any chance of Paul Green coming back home ??

Neither.  Why do folks seem to think everything happens at the last minute if it doesn't go the way we want?  Do you really think the "club" sits on its arse doing f**k all ahead of contract offers etc?
