Comedy Defending, the old ways have resurfaced today,Husband has made a terrible mistake,in this league you need to learn safety first,Quinn could have had a cup of tea and still stopped it,it beats me why he didn't,too many changes and the loss of our defensive leader, put the jitters in there,Wellens the cog of our midfield as well, but pure and simple mistakes cost us today, this game needs to be a one off, mistakes like that get you relegated, they've got to be bang on form for the next one,it's gone now, three points against Bolton would paper over it a bit,it just shows take a few major players out and we are vulnerable again, there's so little between most of the teams.

Echo most of the above posts

Husband is supposed to learn from mistakes (but I thought we should have had a foul just before his error). Husband should be released to wreak havoc in Midfield because he does look full of it going forward. He will go on to better things I am sure and probably wont be a full back

Duffy omg ... I thought he was going to run riot this Season but he seems to either be low on confidence / out of touch or just not up to it. He seems to have pace and seems a dead ball specialist but yesterday not for the first time he had a mare and his final act had me reciting an old piece of Commentary (some will remember it said about Ray Clemence) " and Duffys day is now complete a total disaster"

Poor old Copps was way out of position for their second and again later but as has been said he is wasted there and it made me wonder where our Manager was "looking" when his pre game soundbite said we are doing well because we have a good squad with competition for places and everyone wanting to be involved - which is healthy. Good up to Copps though - a legend (did anybody else spend the first 25 mins seeing if the clock had got to 26 yet ?)

Lucas Neill looked a class act - and a pity he did not break the net with that headed chance (Great save keeper but sorry I did not get a photo of any of your spectacular "saves" and wished you had let a dolly in personally)

Theo - what can you say - either of the chances that fell to him MIGHT have altered the result but we will never know. Earlier this season he would have scored one or both instead of neither

Zigic did change the game as well - but I dislike him and the way he "operates"

PS I still think we will stay up for sure and a win Tuesday would be great

PPS All the players (and Managers) I have mentioned are better than I am - or ever was - or ever will be !

All in all they did their best and held on for
as long as they could . You can't loose Meite and Wellens and have Copps playing in defence AND expect to win . Brumies were poor first half but when the Giant came on it was only a matter of time . Had they played us last week we would have contained him and them.  Let's hope everyones fit by Tuesday as that will be a hard game .

Lets be fair they went for it 4-3-3 from the start changing to 4-2-4 when they had the chance, Our midfield was to defensive and always will be with Keagan and Furman playing together, too many were not up to it on the day but that's football. I was despondent yesterday but having had a good look at the fixtures the bottom 6 have got left I can see just 1 more win taking us over the line.

Having had a look at the replay, that second goal is a Paul Quinn own goal. How he has not kept that out is baffling.

Didn't trust his left peg, so went with his right which made it awkward toclear

This is a fella playing elite level football, and who has done for the best part of a decade - and he didn't trust his own ability not to slice a ball into his own net with his left peg when under no pressure?

I'd give him the OG, fine him a weeks wages.

It's the only reason I can think of for him going with his right when the natural angle suggests that you go with the left. I agree with you that a profesional player of his experience should do better in that situation

Players make mistakes. Can't really 'fine him a weeks wages' just because it transpired that it affected the result.

Quinn has been very good since he's moved into the centre of defence. If he was scoring an own goal every week, fair enough, have a go, but in reality he hasn't really put a foot wrong for a while.

Yes pib, I actually thought we should fine him a weeks wages.

Yes, I really used the term 'fine him a weeks wages' literally. As opposed to, 'scathingly criticise him for one mistake.'

Jeez, some people need it spelling out, don't they?

I thought he was trying to get the ball round the post because there was a Birmingham player rushing in. Had he just stopped the ball that player would have had a tap-in. Maybe I'm giving Quinn too much credit for reading the situation but that's how I saw it.

If Quinn's being "fined" then how about Coppinger (caught out by a straight ball) and Johnstone who hared off his line and made the chance much easier for the attacker. I think there had to be an element of collective responsibility on that second goal.

It looks like Coppinger and Johnstone were both partly to blame, but Quinn could have swung the left peg at it and put it out for a throw or behind for a corner. Instead he turns it in to his own net.

Arguably, Johnstone did his job as most defenders playing football above Sunday league level would have been expected to clear that ball. Unfortunately Quinn had a shocker.

Well, watched the highlights a few times now after being there yesterday. We should have won that game. By far the better chances. Birmingham took the gifts we gave them, but they were rubbish.

ON to Tuesday. COME ON!

From where i was sat Quinny did well to even get to the ball not his fault at all.

From the south east corner I'd thought the same.

From my armchair, he had a shocker.
