Billy

Looks like he's being allowed to leave Saints on a free.
Not a chance of him coming here but Leeds and Brighton look to be front runners, just hope he doesn't end up back as a Blade.

Would hurt to see him at Leeds. Ironic if he went to Brighton.

If I'm being honest I wouldn't want him back, he clearly didn't want to be here last season more than likely due to the way he was asked to play as PD doesn't play to Billy's strengths. If PD wasn't here then maybe it would be a different proposition

It's a pointless debate really as I would guess there is almost zero chance for Billy to drop into league 1 now.  It would be different if it was the January window and one of the teams near the top of the table could take him, but for now he'll go to the Championship.

As much as I love billy, his time to shine has well and truly gone, wouldn't surprise me if he goes wherever next is down to who offers the most money.

With our seemingly miserable wage budget, I doubt Billy will be coming to us again. It wouldn't make sense to have him back now anyway. I feel Robinson, Main and Tyson is a good strikeforce for league one. It is the middle of the park and another good proven centre half that needs attention now. The extension of Wabara and Keegans contracts should also be adrdressed.

Poor guy. Total joke club who are going to be in big trouble this year. Also ruins any chance of ever going back to Blades.

The thick end of a million quid payoff from Saints will be handy for him.

Aye, I'm sure it will cushion the blow for the poor lad.

Really? They haven't had a pot to p**s in for years and it doesn't look like their new mad owner wants to splash the cash.

It looked as though he didn't want to spend but they are paying 600k for Liam Cooper and they're paying a fee for Billy

I Would still love Billy back, but even if he took a massive wage reduction,it still wouldn't be low enough to fit our wage structure.
The only way it happens is if he decides i want to go to where i'm appreciated and loved, which he could do him getting the alleged pay off of his contract.
But living in the Real world football is a short career, and he will go where he has a chance of success,a good wage, which is why i wouldn't understand him joining Leeds, because the only place they are going is to non league to face Farsley Celtic.

Oh dear oh dear.

If he puts in the attitude and effort that he managed for us last season, there'll be fun at Elland Road...

Got to admit the spark in his game wasn't there,i just think if there's anywhere he could get his form back it would be here, very little chance of that
If you have Billy in the team,it all has to revolve round him,i think we have moved onto a team orientated side rather than individuals.

Will he have to move home? _ i thought I read somewhere that the new owner was insisting that all Leeds players had to live in Leeds. - Am I right.

Yes that's Cellini's rule,i wouldn't think that would bother him footballers move all over Tiddy,Leeds are a mess,i think he could do better,it's not the club it was.
Crumbling old stadium, not much money being spent on players, they don't look good to me,they have the support, but that didn't win the game against us all those years ago,i see a falling giant.

I personally think if he doesn't have success at his next club then he will struggle to get a regular place in a championship team and may have no option than to return to league 1.

Like Sammy says, a team has to revolve around him otherwise the spark goes and I'm sorry, not many clubs higher up will play that way now. Even Dickov couldn't do it last season and look at how he performed.

So, will Leeds be a wise move? Time will tell.

Most players are living in hotels. oh also the mad one doesnt like purple so that has to be removed from all hotel rooms and some people think bramall is a bad owner lol

Wherever he ends up it's a big season for him, have a bad one and he will plummet through the league's,his earning capacity going with it,i wish him good luck after some of the games i saw him play for us.
He was worth the admission on his own at his best, probably the only individual player who's picture i would have on my wall,Kirsten Imrie on one side,Billy on the other, that's a good balance.

Not been the same player since winning promotion with Southampton. He looked a shadow of the player who left us when he returned last season. Reports are suggesting, Leeds are paying £1.8m for him. Isn't that about what we sold him for?
