Sounds tough John - and once again all the very very best wishes from me. You are a real kindred spirit for me, and I am with you in thought. Let's hope Rovers can bring some cheer.

Funny you should say that Rob, because the plan is for me to have a large metal rod to hold what's left of my thigh bone together. Before that they have to get rid of the infection in my leg and system generally.

As expected, I'll be here for Christmas and the foreseeable future. There's talk about sending me to the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford. At least that isn't too far from home.

I got to theatre yesterday but only to reapply the drainage pump to my leg.

Anyway, may I wish a very Merry Christmas to all fellow Rovers. Here's to that long awaited home win on Boxing Day.

Get your boots ready TRB. You'll still be quicker than young Curtis.

Happy Christmas - as far as it can be - John. I hope things improve.

Sadly, someone else is in difficulty too now. Sarah Watts - remember her? Chair of the Seagulls Supporters Club and a downright smashing lady. She's really not well at all and the prognosis is dire. I'm about to write to her so I'll pass on your best wishes as I doubt you'll be in any position to do so yourself. I'm talking with Liz Costa and Jan Merritt about it - but it doesn't look as if there's anything much anyone can do.  b*llocks. An era is coming to an end here John.

Its only words but from one John to another - keep strong and get well soon as possible

I will raise my cheers an extra 3 decibels if (sorry WHEN) we score tomorrow - and again as we clinch our first "homer" of the Season. So you will be represented tomorrow while you concentrate on YOU !

All the best JT

Keep your chin up if you can .... I would be hopeless at it.

I have been warming my voice box up to keep my promise of the extra decibels on your behalf

Surely today IS the day we get three points !

My best wishes to you RB for a rapid and complete recovery, and just to help it along, I'm confident that today is our day for a rare 3 home points and a performance to match.  I hope you can listen in.

A quick update. I had several hours of surgery on Saturday and now no longer have the drainage but have acquired a large metal frame on the outside of my thigh. This is to hold what's left of the bone in place. The infected bone has been removed.

Today the physios got me to stand on a zimmer. I managed this and although I expected it to be painful it wasn't but I had the oddest sensation in my leg. Apparently my right leg is now shorter than my left so that is something I will have to get used to - at least unless it is corrected by a future operation, which I am expecting.

Basically I'm going to be here for some time to come!

All the best .... looks like I will be doing the extra cheering on your behalf for as long as it takes - BUT let me say it is no inconvenience when measured against your situation

Will buy you a beer in BVB as well as soon as poss I hope.

Still in hospital. Infection seems to be under control but I'm very restricted in terms of how much I can move. I'm able to get out bed and move to the chair but not much further. I'm sure that will come but it is a long haul.

At least I'm not in much pain now, which is a big positive.

Good luck TRB.
Better a long road to recovery than a short cul-de-sac.  :)
At least when you get back we might be even more consistent with the way we are improving. :scarf:

Latest news. I am still in hospital but slowly getting more mobile. I am walking with a Zimmer and can manage about 20 steps. Still on antibiotics and will be for 2-3 months. I expect to be in hospital for at least another month and even then I won't be fully mobile. Still hope to be back at the Moat in April.
