Absolutely pathetic
« on April 08, 2017, 07:15:38 pm by mrfrostsdad »
What the feck is wrong with you???
I won't call you football fans because that has nothing to do with football. Screaming and shouting 'scabs'. None of you were even born when the miners strike was in full swing and the only scabs you know about is the feckin scabs you pull off your noses.
Your football team has just won promotion but you're still not happy. Knocking seven bells out of each other. You're all absolutely pathetic and a disgrace to the football club.

And talk about show yourselves in your true colours. I've never seen anyone run so fast when the cops turned up. Cowards every one of you.
Just stay away if you get any pleasure out of that.

Probably not the right place for this. Average age of this forum is 50 odd and they're usually too busy reminiscing about the good old days to call anyone a scab or start a fight.

If you're after the 12 year olds of our fans then try the Facebook group. Although you might struggle to get a word in with them all calling each other "melt"s. x

Melts?? WTF is one of those?? 😄😄 Nope, they were definitely older than that. Having said that they probably can't read anyway

Started in the stadium with a steward being assaulted by a Mansfield fan. They then continued to smash up seats and advertising boards, with no one visibly arrested.

I wasn't born when the miners strike took place but just the same as the rest of the following generation, we suffered the effects of Thatcherism and as a worker, I still suffer for the behaviour of the Nottinghamshire scabs.
If one child has to ask what a scab is and have it explained that there's not much lower than being a scab then its worth it.

Thatcher and her government caused the mining industry to fail, not from those in Nottinghamshire who wanted to carry on working. Those working in the coke plants and mines throughout the strikes were a side show; the mines were going to shut anyway, and Scargill didn't help the cause in the long run either. I'm with mrfrostsdad on this one.

And thereby goes the problem.
I'm from a mining family. The miners were sold down the river by their own Union. They tried to being down the Thatcher Government and failed. In a similar way as the Junior Doctors tried last year. Even the President of their own Union told them what a great deal they'd got and then resigned when they turned it down.
But hey, that's a political argument and not for a football forum.

By the way: this has nothing to do with anything that happened in the ground, this was outside the ground

Sorry but that is absolute b*llocks. If you were told to go on strike without a vote what would you do? And yes I was involved in the strike

Yes I'm with Mrfrostsdad too , I detest that chant too ffs can we put it to bed now. Why make such tits of yourself leave that childish crap back home in your nursery. Grown -ups shouldn't be encouraging our next generation to carry on with such crap - like the 2nd World War that some want to keep on refighting - both have gone .

We can continue to commemorate our dead , miss our mining communities but to saddle the next generation with negative things like hating Germans and Maggie Thatcher further divides them from the Continent and rebuilding our communities.

It is time for the "scab" chants to stop..

How many of the visiting fans were actually miners, who worked during the strike??  Not many I would guess.

I lived though the strike year in a place right in the middle of mining country, wasn't involved but I saw the goings on daily.  It was a terrible time, but to tar everyone from Nottinghamshire or nearby with "scab" is bang out of order..

Would not sing it me sen as I don't sing at football ,but is this just not a chant that helps generate a atmosphere during the football that all and sundry claim is missing.

Suppose Mansfields answer would on the line of singing Yorkshire bas**rds etc etc ,that don't upset me as take it as part of the atmosphere as football is all about tribes is it not.

Don't run onto the pitch ,don't sing scab , don't stand up, sit down, don't do this or don't do that,

Which basically means

Plaese come in  stay seated, sing nice songs  soon to be introduced stand up and clapp the other team when they score .

Get some b*llocks back into it

The scabs thing isn't really a scabs thing. It's the classic football fan trope of abusing your opponents to gain a superiority advantage. You read too much into it and give those who call it too much credit.

It always makes me smile whenever we chant about scabs as one sits very near me in west stand. I always wonder what he thinks.

Which part?
Because Labour certainly did close more mines than the Tories.

The mining industry was doomed when the railways stopped using steam, compounded by domestic usage switching to gas, regardless of party politics when your market disappears then your industry is gone
