Some milestones today
« on November 04, 2017, 05:42:26 pm by Dutch Uncle »
As mentioned on Lucky pint thread, first time we have scored 6 since 7-0 win over Crook Town in FAC 4th Qualifying round in 1999-00 season.

Prior to that the previous occasion was the 6-0 league win at Hartlepool in 1989-90

It is also the first ever that we have scored 6 in an away cup match (FA Cup, League Cup or AMC)

Copps now has 63 goals for the club, our 6th highest scorer ever after Tom Keetley, Alick Jeffrey, Bert Tindill, Peter Kitchen and Brendan O'Callaghan. He would need another 14 to catch Brendan which is a big ask.

Are there any appearance records left for Copps to break, Dutch?

Amazes me that we haven't scored this many in a game since my first ever FA Cup game some 18 years ago! Great stat.

Funny you should ask that CBCB.  If you buy the next Fanzine (nr 91) you will find out in excruciating detail  ;)

Cheers Dutch, for this.

Actually, I'm thoroughly pissed off. Today is the first time I've missed the Rovers scoring 6 or more in a match since Aldershot in 68/69.

Bloody shite Ferguson.

Well, it was before I qualified for one of those Blue invalid cars that were strewn around the pitch. I had to limp for 2 years before upgrading to one of them.

Certainly was. I remember watching the 1966 World Cup final in black and white. But there several on here that go back further than me.......

World Cup Final I saw in B&W I am pretty sure and first Colour game I saw was Leicester v Man City probably May 67 - although I did see previous Final Everton v Owls in colour too. I was at Wembley that day

First European Game I watched was I am pretty sure Hamburg v Burnley maybe 63 ? Will have to Google as memory deffo not what it was

Blimey January 1961 at Burnley and March 1961 at Hamburg (Quarter Finals). Strange that I remember going in broad daylight to watch on a mates Granny's TV so I am wondering if the game was played during the day ?

I was also at that one,Dutch and that Reading game takes some beating. Kerry Dixon? got 4 of their goals, if I remember right, and still finished on the losing side. He must have had mixed emotions after the match!

Leicester v Man city FA Cup Final was in May 1969 and it was one of those rare cup finals when it rained nearly all day if my memory serves me correctly. Most cup finals seem to have had sunny days.

My Rovers regret ... did not go ... but did go to both the 6-3 6-3 games the following 2 Seasons

If time travel were possible I would love to go back there for 2 reasons :

1) To see the game of course
2) and perhaps more importantly WHY did I not go as I / We (friends) used to go almost every game

Go on then. Dick waving time.

I was at the following matches
Workington
Exeter
Reading
Hartlepool
Crook Town

Anyone beat that?

Mind, to balance it up, I also saw most of our matches under Cusack, so my average goals per game is pretty poor.

Was that the 6-3 v Workington in 1977? I was at that one but missed Exeter and Hartlepool.

Amazing to think we beat Exeter 6-1 and Reading 7-5 in the same season yet still got relegated.

Not really - given that the following home league fixtures saw us concede another 10 in 2 games!!

Well, when you put it like that...

Actually Reading were no better than us and were also relegated at the end of the season.
