Parking fines
« on July 11, 2018, 09:59:28 pm by roverstillidie91 »
Has anyone ever had a parking ticket for parking slightly out of their bay markings? As in within the lines but out of the bay by the tyres.

Just something as myself and my partner have been together nearly 5 gears and commuted to a lot of places and never got fines for anything like this.

We went a few weeks ago and admittedly it was my fault there was no spaces available and other people was parked not in their bays.. I ended up with a ticket which I paid anyway.

Been this week and my partner got a fine as she was slightly parked forward as we wasn't able to park fully into the bay due to the person behind.

It was for Scarborough avenue car park in Skegness they are handing fines for literally any breach so people beware! Am not sure if this has been the case in Donny.

Have we got a case or have we got no chance?

Maybe, if you have a photo of the other car being partly into your space, preventing you from going right into your space.

I got a Parking Ticket for exactly that once in Workington. A van was delivering Bread or summat and had a side door open. This meant the next car had to park further over and of course and I then had to park further over too. I got a Ticket as I suppose they came round and the Van had gone so they had no idea why I was parked "out of the Bay". I went straight to the Council Offices and was told to write in and protest. I did and explained in detail why I could not comply and they retracted the Ticket

A few years later I got one in Castleton Derbyshire. The bloke was writing it out as I got back because I was parked in a Bay reserved for Coaches. I asked how I would know and he pointed to a small sign. When I arrived this had been covered by a large Van. As he spoke to me a few more cars arrived and parked in the Coaches spot and he ignored them. He told me to write in and protest. I did so (again in detail) and the Council retracted the Ticket

So my advice is challenge everything giving as much info as you can as to why to could not comply including Photos if you took any because they probably have some

Those are / were the only such Tickets I have had (apart from a trumped up one at Robin Hood that I ignored) because I DO try to park legally - as its so much easier stress and time wise. It is not always possible of course because some people do take 2 spots or more to avoid getting their Cars scratched though that tends to be in places like Tesco and Asda etc

There's a company operating round Skeggy and Ingoldmells including Fantasy Island car park people are having all sorts of issues with a right cowboy outfit by all accounts, or if its council maybe its an overzealous new starter

I have myself have received 3 fines in the last couple of years for extremely daft things all i can suggest is appeal and throw yourself on their mercy . If in a couple of my cases, the council in question has outsourced the appeals procedure to one of the parking rackateers .....then forget it . Whatever the circumstances, however small the infringement they just don't want to know .

I have a rule, if it's a Police or Council issued ticket then I'll pay it (assuming its correct), but if it's a private contractor I just ignore them.

I know the law has changed recently with regard to private invoices being issued but my tactic still works.

A bit of advice if you get a parking ticket issued by DMBC. Just pay it and don't even waste your time trying to appeal it.
You will get a letter back from them which just proves they don't read the points you make.

I have had four DMBC parking tickets and appealed three of them, all of them successful.  You just don't know how it's done, Cantley.

Did you use the Ombudsman?

No, Glyn.  I never threw away my car park tickets, just chucked them in the glove box.  Whenever I copped for a ticket (once every couple of years) I shoved them all in an envelope along with my letter of appeal, explaining that I am a responsible citizen of the borough and pay my dues, asking the question... 'does ten minutes late getting back to the car warrant a £60 fine?'
Worked every time.
