Seven o'clock kick off, and it could be an interesting game for quite a few different reasons.
The team selection will be interesting giving us supporters the chance to look at different players who will be I would think trying to further their chances of pushing for a first team start and a future at Doncaster Rovers.
Blaney, Kiwomya, Lawlor,Longbottom,Daniels, May, if the rules allow should be looking for a run out as well as Wright if he is fit enough to play and if age restrictions in the competition allow, plus players who have impressed from the older academy team.
I would prefer to see Jones play as the starter in goal, we know Lawlor is good enough for starts in the first team, but has things to work on which are more a training pitch problem.
Personally I am looking forward to watching the game, it has added interest in that the game is against Portsmouth, so we can judge their back up strength behind their first team.
Entrance is free to all season ticket holders on presentation of their ticket book, or a small cover charge at the gate, the ticket office not being open at game time.
It would be great to see a decent following and interest in the game, if you fancy it get down and have a football fix.

🏆 Premier League Cup
🆚 Portsmouth U23s
🏟 Keepmoat Stadium
📆 Tuesday September 24
🕖 KO: 7pm

3 overage players plus goal keeper rest U23.
Wonder if Wright and Sterling could be given minutes. Plus Kiwomya and Longbottom given game time.  Be interested to see what these young players and fringe players perform against Portsmouth who like us are in their Central league.

Also Jones, Prior, Horton and Boocock could be at their loan clubs who are playing tonight. Gibbons could be available as his team are not playing.

Just seen that Portsmouth are in League Cup tonight so their fringe players will be involved in that squad.

The cup game is one they really want and need to win. Need to take some pressure of Jackett and want because it’s their main rivals.

I’d expect a pretty strong Pompy team

They will still have a strong bench though, which means they’ll probably have a proper u23 squad tonight.

Thought you could only play players signed with the club in U23 League & Cup games?

I’m loving the half a dozen people on Facebook kicking off that Jones isn’t in goal tonight - and I quote “how’s he going to prove himself if we never play him?”. Now let me think...

Wright got the first goal early on and the trialist had a near miss.  !-0 so far.

Longbottom seems to be putting himself about with a near miss on goal and a yellow card for a late challenge in the first 30mins.

Dominant first half performance display by Rovers. They lead 1-0 at the break.

I’m not sure dominant is the right word.

The Trialist Had 3 good attempts at goal without really getting into the game.

He was subbed off on 60 mins , he looked quite tall and slim and had a good turn of speed.

Well, first the positives:
Wright is ready, going on that display.
Donervon strolled through the game.
Longbottom best of the rest, although AJ Greaves was combative.

Now the negatives:
Lawlor shaky first half - nothing to do 2nd half.
Kiwomya - oh deary me!

Could and should have been a more commanding score line, but the U23’s have the same issue with a striker - we don’t have one.

Funny that given he’s head of their academy.

Are you sure that they sent the U23's , they looked more like an U19 team, very young looking.

Did Kiwomya play full 90mins?
