Move, who the bloody hell do you think our owners are going to stand aside for?

When did I say they should stand aside? I’m just saying what’s going on isn’t not good enough.
When godlike said the board should step aside in the final sentence of his rambling, you quoted him & said ‘Bang on’.

You ought to take more care who ‘you back’ if you’re going to deny agreeing with another compulsive moaner 4 posts down.

And when you say “...what’s going on isn’t good enough.” Are you referring to the £millions the board put into the running of the club year on year out of their own pockets?

Are you referring to the style of football you are being served up?

Are you referring to the fact that a win on Saturday would see us in the top six with games in hand on those teams around & above us?

Are you referring to the fact that despite the dearth of local derby games this season ticket sales are up on last season?

Are you of the same mind as the ‘conspiracy theorists’ on this forum that the last two managers left because of ‘the clubs (i.e boards) lack of (so called) ambition’?

If so, aren’t you somewhat amazed that this season Ben Whiteman has signed an extension to a contract that still had over a year to run on it?

If so, aren’t you surprised the club was able to attract a young manager who is clearly held in such high regard by those in his profession?

As has been said by those truly in the know, Darren Moore is his own man looking to bring players to the club he wants. Not who the board or the CEO want despite Gavin Baldwin’s assurances that the money is there, or are you calling GB a liar?

Stop reading between the lines & ‘following’ the doom mongering sheep that pervade the forum. If not you, like they, are going to look mighty foolish come the end of the season as I take delight in bringing your posts back to haunt you.
You just sound like bully hiding behind a forum where opinions are voiced without prejudice or spoken in a condescending manner !

And you don't??
I said he sound like one because that’s all that goes on here as  you talk yourself up like many and offer little proof of your insight .

How exactly is the recruitment process 'shambolic'? Is it just because the club keep their cards close to their chest instead of telling you everything?

Don’t change a thing! Never been a fan of the January transfer window. It’s taken best part of half a season for DM to get his ideas across and get the team playing how he wants. Rest copps for as long and as often as we can for the final push. He’s played a lot of footy. I can only imagine how delighted the board and DM are with how the seasons gone thus far. We look fantastic, he’s the best manager we’ve had from a defensive point of view for as long as I can remember. If we make playoffs he’s done his job and if we go up we might  just get to keep him. If not he’ll go because like McCann he’s too good for league 1

godlike,

That post of yours would need War and Peace from me to answer all the detail that you touch on, and to be fair it's been along day and I could do with putting my feet up!

But firstly, I only defend the club with all my might when I know there is something to defend. I'm probably their biggest critic and have been so for years, but I like to do my criticising behind closed doors and work on outcomes that are beneficial.

I get the frustration, I really do, but why would I defend in a situation like this? Because the 'reasons' posters are putting out what they consider is factual it simply isn't.

Do you not think that I ask the same questions as everyone else? Of course I do, but the responses I'm making are based on those discussions with the club, and not what some journalist from any media source has posted.

Honesty? I think the club have been honest, its just that whatever they say it will never be enough for some.

SM

I get your point and appreciate your comments. It's very hard to put a reasoned discussion on this forum without people taking it personally and behaving like you've had a shit on their front lawn.

I don't actually expect you to give any answers to my questions, it would be nice to know what they are and why we are told one thing and then another but..........because you hear for the horses mouth you think its always the same information.

It doesn't really matter I am some one who like those who vigorously back the club no matter what or like to have a moan about it no matter what. Loves the club to bits. I have ever. Since my old man took me to my first game 35 yrs ago. I have the same passion and pride now as I did then and always hope we may achieve the potential we have  to get to the top.

I should always be allowed to put my point across without being made to feel insulted, patronised or insignificant. Unfortunately that rarely happens on this forum...........

Let me get this right. Are you saying that we shouldn't sign anyone, despite the probability of injuries and suspensions?

We all want to see the same thing. About the things DM says in response to questions. He says to the reporters, if there's any change you’ll be the first to know. So, nothing changes, the reporters don't hear anything but they ask him the same question! So what other answer can he give?

Where has DM said any of this??

Quick correction as well, we didn't get £2m for Marquis. Nowhere near.

It was widely reported at the time the fee was close to £2 Million... saying “it was no where near “ are you allowed to expand on that ?

Widely reported by who? I don't believe the club have given that information to anybody, not even me! Lol.

So if they never gave you the information, how can you comment on the value.

Because they probably said exactly the same to S_M as what he said to us. "No where near"

simplified for some of our supporters, a ball over the line is not a goal till the referee says it is and it's on the score board  :)

Facts speak for themselves absolutely nobody coming in of any note, cheap options being the main focus, window opens we miss out again!! It’s all about money and the tuck shop operation the board run..... either Watson or bramhall have pulled the plug or there’s little interest in success.  This season there’s real chance of a crack at promotion but hey ho dms hands are tied just like McCann and Ferguson, sooner they admit there’s an issue the better.

Right, I'll take you directly to task, because some people will read what you say and believe it, some will even want it to be true!

"Cheap options being the main focus"  Firstly, how do you know what the focus is?  Secondly, define cheap, because from where I'm sitting, even loan players and "free transfers" cost a lot of money.

I'm really please though that you think we have a real chance of a crack at promotion, because we've got there through the current strategy.

In answer to that question - it wouldn't particularly surprise me. Listen to Dickov here at 1 hr 37 minutes in. He says the board cut the budget after JR left which is obvious and also told Dickov to tell the fans it was a top 6 budget when it was nowhere near. Why do you actually think Fergie and McCann left? https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=KGJSsNOHbp0&feature=emb_title

I'm glad the current board got rid of Dickov btw, he was cack.

The only fact in that post is that we haven’t brought anyone in, yet.

Not including loan extensions for Sheaf and Dieng of course, who would otherwise now have left.

I knew this would happen eventually as it’s exactly what happened in the summer.
This isn’t a pop at anyone, but at the beginning of the window people say give them chance let’s see what’s happened in a couple of weeks but yes we definitely need new players but let’s just see what happens. And then as we get deeper into the month the same people change their tune to well we’ve extended this loan and he’s signed a new contract. Which is what happened in the summer and so far it’s happening again

That's not an unreasonable reflection of what happened at the time from Dickov. Spin and appeasing fans is all part of the job as he acknowledges.

We always have to understand that whatever the budget is, the manager's job is to utilise it to the best of his ability. He shouldn't be going to the board every 5 minutes and asking for more. That said, it's not easy for any manager at any club it's an all consuming job.

He confirmed there that the wage bill had got out of hand and it had to be cut. JR knew that, all 3 of them knew that. When JR resigns then that leaves a hole to be filled and that doesn't happen by magic or by putting the club at risk with taking even more risks.

To make up for the loss of income the club had to look at other income streams and Club Doncaster has made up for that in some way and is a sound way of generating income and turnover we wouldn't otherwise get. There are other community aspects of Club Dincaster, the foundation and educational side that largely goes unnoticed.

Back to the concept of top 6 budget, something I've always been uncomfortable with as it's ambiguous and could be misinterpreted.

Whatever mechanism the owners have set up to fund the club is ok by me as you need some serious wealth to generate in excess of £1m a year each, to give freely to the club and underwrite any additional losses on top of that.

The club, just like other clubs and in other industries, will always try to put positive spin on things for obvious reasons and most folk understand that and accept that because what we see for what we pay on a Saturday afternoon is acceptable. I'm enjoying the football just as much this season as I did the last, the season before, when we were in the Championship and when we were in the Conference. It's all relative.

Until some other ’investor’ comes along who wants to put more money in, things are not going to change much anytime soon.

The choice is ours whether to buy our tickets. I for one still think I'm getting good value for money.

Honestly some of our supporters are ridiculous. Our board back us like nobody else ever has financially in the history of the club. Even the great JR couldn't have sustained our losses. We have a fantastic stadium, great management and great communication with the club. From SM to the meet the owners events to players interacting with supporters. Our youth teams seem to be developing well too.

Yes we'd like a number 9 but at what cost?

Also put yourself (realistically) in the owners shoes. How much per season would you invest of your own money to keep the club ticking over?

If you don't like it and want to be bank rolled maybe Man City is the club for you? Or Chelsea or whichever the next falsely positioned club is.

Great post.
But you can talk to some on here until you are blue in the face and they still won’t get it, don’t want to get it, or simply have their own negative agenda about the board.

DM has in fact said that we have missed out on some targets. The below is all from the DFP article, with direct quotes from DM....

Rovers have yet to make a signing this month and Moore says some targets have gone elsewhere - but he is not overly concerned with that.

“There’s one or two that we’ve missed out on for various reasons,” he said.

“It can be just the player choosing to go somewhere else or the advisor getting involved.”

Go listen to the interview as broadcast by radio Sheffield..

It looks like the DFP has misquoted DM.

Sounds like it’s come from a different interview with LH asking the question. He has posted an audio clip of the question being answered.

The words quoted in the Free Press came out of DM’s mouth verbatim, so I am confused as to where the allegation of misquoting has come from.

My post you quoted was put on here several hours before Liam tweeted his audio.

Had that been available beforehand then I wouldn’t have suggested any misquoting.

Once again.
Nobody at all is sugggesting the club go out and spend silly money.
I don’t understand the comment “at what cost?” We are a football club that needs to invest in players to win football matches and progress.
If we spent no money we would end up with a side like 1997.
We lost over a dozen players over the last 2 seasons and we haven’t replaced them, we’ve sold our main striker for a lot of money, yes not all at once but surely we can do our own deal where we don’t pay all at once.
We’ve always been told that all income would be spent on the football team, it’s hard to see that his is now the case

Bottom line is you're concerned along with others, that the club is on a downward spiral financially which jeopardises our standing in the football pyramid.

There is nothing that any of us can do or say that will allay those concerns. It is beyond our control.

Try to take all the semantics out of it and judge on what the output is on the pitch. Compare it to times in our history when things were much worse.

I took a sabbatical during the Richardson era. It cleansed my soul relieving me of any anxiety or interest in the club at that time. I got on with my life and when I was persuaded to come back after Richardson departure, it's been enjoyable. So when things aren't going so well, I just look back and think it's not that bad!

I bet there are many a fan across the leagues up and down the country who would gladly swap with us.

DBR that last line is a huge understatement.

There are many fans across the country who will look at us with considerable envy at how well run a club we are.

I for one still think I'm getting good value for money.

that's a fair post. I would say though that what the club say their approach is does not follow on in terms of actions leading to becoming a sustainable model. Managers leaving apart, i can see no evidence over the last three years where the footballing side has been made more sustainable.

They have said they need to look at putting out longer contracts for their managers rather than the rolling contract, no sign of that yet for the amazing job DM is doing with the limited resources he has etc etc
