Bolton Away
« on March 07, 2020, 11:03:33 pm by 5 on Tour »
I know lots talked about the situation Bolton are in. Even more of us were, rightly, shocked at the appalling situation regarding the cancellation of our game via Twitter. Even more still were fuming that they basically got no punishment.

As of today they are 22 points from safety with 11 games to play. They aren’t going to get those 22 regardless BUT they have 3 games before we visit them. I know anything can happen in football but as it stands we have a genuine chance of being the team to send them down... the irony guys!

Yep, if the gap stays as it is now at 22 points for them then we can relegate them.

I'm not one for celebrating teams struggling under financial difficulty but the way the club conducted themselves over the game and the way their fans have behaved since means I would take some pleasure in Rovers being the team to officially send them down.

It would be the just reward if we were to relegate them. I know they have accepted relegation from day 1, but the way they got away with it.... well would be bitter sweet if we were to be the team that sent them down.

I get the feeling it still WOULD mean a lot to a lot on here

I have no axe to grind with their fans as mostly they were / are pawns in this situation in exactly the same way as we were during the Richardson era

Look at it the other way though. If we still have a chance of the play offs they could destroy our chances of getting into the top 6...

Aye wouldnt that be the irony of all ironies

We need all 3 Points to make Play offs and lose when had the original game gone ahead we all "felt" that we would have got 3 Points with at least 5 goals

I'll tel you what's frustrating.

If the Bolton match had gone ahead in August, and if the ref had seen the stonewall penalty on Halliday in the last minute at home to Rochdale, today we'd be sat in exactly the same spot as Sunderland and Peterborough.

Fine margins. And we've had very, very little help from Fate this season.

If, buts and maybes. I’m sure all the other teams could give you examples that give theirselves more points too.

I wrote a similar post to this a week or two ago mate. It would be great to do it to them.

I was at Burnden Park when Neil Redfern scored our last minute winner to send Bolton down to the bottom tier. It was sad in a way as Bolton were a good top division team when I started watching the Rovers in 1958.
A lot of water gone under the bridge since then and Bolton bounced right back up to the top to finally waste it.

On the subject on Bolton away, the match is only a couple of weeks away.
I called in at the ticket office when I was passing by and they still haven’t got the tickets for the game.
We play Burton away on 28th and have had those tickets for a while.

They obviously don’t want to play us.  AGAIN.

Maybe to make up for calling the game off a very short notice they will give us the tickets for this game at very short notice. 🤔

I'm in a similar frame of mind as you RoversAlias......very sad to see a once great, proud club in the state they're in& I have no add to grind with them, but still take a morbid satisfaction from their predicament & want us to stuff 'em 😀.
The only mitigating factor is that it's different & owners & management now to the ones who pulled the fast one on us.

There’s (probably) a small section of their fan base, who are quite ante on Twitter..  they can’t accept that it was the method of calling off the game that is the issue, not their reasons.

Sometimes vicar someone posts something which warrants responses like that.  It’s actually quite rare that I have to resort to this.

Do you think it’s appropriate for since-1969 to post about death certificates in relation to Coronavirus postponing football matches.?

I don’t.

My apologies to any forum user who may be offended..

I suspect there's a few on here who strongly object to the reasons they gave for calling the game off, in addition to the way they chose to do it.

To be honest, I don't really care about the fate of Bolton Wanderers. Beyond anything else, they should regard their season as a success as they are still in existence.

They stand in our way of 3 valuble points. Nothing else matters.

I tried to get mine  but the club haven’t received them from Bolton yet.
Only two weeks to the fixture.
Maybe BWFC are going to give us the points.
