Thought the red card in todays game was a red. In reality its was a harsh yellow in my opinion. It was 1 foot, wasnt high and made a desperate attempt for the ball. Performance wise....... we got the job done that is all i will say.

Mmm, it looked high to me.
The lads studs were into ABs shin.

Then I suggest you watch it again.

I saw it live and saw the replay stocks.
Clearly a high and dangerous challenge.

One of the most blatant and clear red cards I’ve seen in a while! I agree that his intent may well have been to go for the ball, it was reckless, dangerous and potentially career ending. I’m just glad AB was ok afterwards.

This is my best eleven plus six good substitutes when DM can have those 17 players available we will see how we play.

                       Lumley

 Halliday    Wright.   Anderson.      James

                         Whiteman

         Smith.                             Richards

  Taylor.              John Jules.                 Sims

Jones  Butler John. Gomes Coppinger Okenabirhie add  one more of your choice.

A win is a win, the team selection strange, not the first time we have started a game with players playing out of position, or should I sat a lot of us supporters do.
But it worked again not for the first time this season, and not always the best team win things, just find a way to do so As Argentina did twice in world cups and Germany have in the past. Just find a way to win.
As the stats show we were by far the best team today, and deserved to win only their player can be blamed for being sent off although the short hospital pass to Butler typified our play in most of the first half.
You could look at it that we made a team that earlier in the week beat Fleetwood look poor.

Camps, northampton are a really poor team, even when they had eleven men on the pitch.
People would have been in order to have a pop if we hadnt won that game.
Yes they would. I am having a pop and we won.

The overreaction on here though would have been something else altogether.
People will always put up with a poor performance when you win.

It just proves the result is all anyone really cares about not the performance.

I love to be entertained when I watch the football.. I can forgive my team losing if they have given everything but get beat by a better side - and I also know that sometimes we will be below par.

But results do matter, more so when I couldn’t watch anyway.!

Fleetwood must have been poor on Tuesday. Northampton will struggle to stay in this league the way they play. Keith Curle has never really changed his style.

Job done Brian as you say now next Saturday let’s please beat that 2nd worst bogey team we have in the entire EFL and put one over Mr Evans into the bargain.
They have just picked up again with a couple of wins after a poor run of results.
No easy games. Only on paper, never in reality.

fleetwood had about 20 odd shots I think against 4 and 70 odd percent possession just couldn’t score

Fleetwood had about the same possession stats as us, they just did nothing with the ball, while we got two goals.

It's obvious why we're next to the top there Steve. It's all the passing around at the back that we do.

That sounds right. At one point well into the first half today we were on 74% possession.

I really don't get some of the posts on this thread.

For 70 minutes we had to play a ten man pack defence that didn't press past the 40 yard line. The aim of the game was patient possession, don't make a mistake and work to make openings. Guess what, we did it and scored two goals to win the game.

Any notion of seeing us play expansive, great football went out the window when McWilliams elected to lunge in on Butler.

And we played far better than in the first half against Hull. Anyone thinking otherwise must have forgotten Wednesday night rather quickly.

here here

And that’s another reason big Dave went with that line up knew they would really only be dangerous on set plays and on a shocking pitch where very hard to play decent passing football

Winning when you play poorly is the sign of a good team but normally a good team will play well most of the time. We aren't just have a bad game here or there it's every game at the moment. Getting results like today is great but there needs to be performances around the corner or else when we do lose a few it'll spiral

That.

Hopefully though we will start to pull some better performances together with players coming back from injury to give others a rest

I may be a little late with this comment, but a team should play to its strengths and a manager should make the best use of his player’s talents, not force them into playing in a closely prescribed way.

Most of the players he has recruited played well when they first came – Sims was the prime example – and seem to have been forced into a system which doesn’t suit them. We had an exhibition of the exuberance of youth at Charlton. 2 months indoctrination into the current system has seen it all drained away.

I can see how you would see it that way. If it was the other way round id be disappointed. Its "One of them" isnt it.

To say the challenge is "career ending" to me personally is foolish. Ill watch it again and apologise if im wrong but the highlight after the card he did lunge into Buts but it was 1 foot and wasnt high at all. Maybe saw it wrong as id had a couple of beers mind. Ill watch it again.

The referee saw the challenge and sent player off what’s the debate about. He would have sent off 10/10 in the premier league. Get over it.

Hey Stocks, if you are unsure what you saw you are still better than the bbc reporter on their website who says that the challenge was on Reece James.

Having watched it back several times its a booking at best for me. If you think thats a challenge made with intent then i cant disagree with you more. If thats Fej or JJ and he doesnt make the exact same tackle id be questioning his commitment.

Have you been living under a rock for the past 15/20 years? You can’t make a challenge like that in football anymore. He’s gone in after the ball is well gone with his studs up. Red all day long.
