Does this mean Bothroyd is still potentially in the running then?

Struggle to think of 8 names that haven't been ruled out now! Only one anyone seems to know is Wellens. Think he's got some decent experience in a fairly short career and had success in promotion and a cup so in that sense is probably a no brainer.

I still don't believe for a second that Wellens history with the club means he won't leave at the 1st offer like the others.

I haven't heard anything that would rule out Heckingbottom as a candidate, to be fair.

Listening to Radio Sheffield earlier and it seems the Blades job is a two horse race between Blessin and Hecky. There are issues surrounding Blessin and a work permit however.

Harrogate aren't exactly known for playing attractive football but then again maybe we need to go back to basics.
Where on earth do you get that idea from. I am puzzled as to who has given you that feedback.

Harrogate do play attractive football. They play a passing game but can and do mix it up a bit. When Beck is playing they do load the ball into the box and use his height and heading ability.
Weaver has consistently played 4-4-2 throughout their rise up the leagues a style very much like Dave Penny had his teams playing at Rovers.

Anyway i do not think Simon Weaver would leave Harrogate Town at this time as he is very much a part of a family business with his Father being the owner.

Derek McInnes?

Uninspiring name, but has a 46.93% win ratio. That's quite impressive.

Also, achieved Scottish Premier League runners-up 3 times with Aberdeen.

If Stendel is not a candidate then from all the names being banded about that are not currently in work my favourite would be Wellens.
Think he did an excellent job at Swindon Town on a restricted budget.
Very good recruitment from him at the club. Scored lots of goals in League 2 and made a very good start in League 1 this season.
Their form only started to fall away after it was made fairly obvious he was leaving to go to Salford.
As he is from Manchester it was obviously an attractive move for him as they have ambitious owners who understand the game being ex top professional players.

It was strange it did not work out at Salford but working for ex pros may have caused some friction due to interference in team tactics etc.

He is his own person, a strong personality and if his man management is good ( which is vital ) then i believe he could be a great fit for DRFC.

Whoever gets the job will get my 100% support as the board are doing the interviews and they will know what they are looking for in the person that fulfils the requirements for the job far better than myself.

No. Please no MM! Every single time I hear that name it sends shivers up my spine. Unfair on the current Weaver, but f**k me, NO!

I think Wellens probably found it irresistible going to Salford, weren’t the owners his mates having all come through the manure youth set up.
I’m still not sure about him being a fit as manager for us

When Hoden said that the mangers on the short list have managed from Premiership down to league 2 level, could he have meant Scottish premiership ?

Also he said 2 of the contenders are currently managing other clubs. Seeing as we don’t approach mangers in work, I can’t see a employed manger applying for another job going down well with his current club

When he mentioned Wellens it came across as he is the number one man.

Simon Weaver to get the job, with Barry Richardson as his number 2

If it starts going wrong we can start chanting "Weaver out, Richardson out"

I wouldn’t mind Wellens at all,but i’m sure it was mentioned he’d made a few enemies the last time he was here. (Including a certain senior figure)

He was asked if any candidates had Premier League or international experience and he said yes to both, so doubt he would deceive and say that but mean SPL.

He also mentioned international so could be GJ and AB? GJ is well thought of in Newcastle and one reason for their slight upturn in performances

Im hoping for Jimmy Floyd Hasslebank - I would like someone who understands the attacking side of football. I am not sure he would have applied but I think he is a great manager.

Clough would probably have a lower budget than at Mansfield this summer. Thats not a dig at our owners they spend heavily for a league 2 team.

If he can manage Burton successfully I think he could cope at Rovers.

I would be happy with either Clough or Wellens.

Cough would be a longer term solution as he has shown loyalty previously to his clubs.

Wellens would be off for a bigger opportunity...

Weaver and Bramall families both made their money in property development. TB is from Cadeby I think and Weavers High Melton. They almost certainly know each other.

Drfchound do you work for Polypipe?

They know each other very well.
I have been on many Polypipe business  trips when they have been in the group with us all.

Petche, no mate I don’t work for Polypipe.
I have retired now but was a Polypipe customer from the very early days when Kevin McDonald opened the Company.
I actually sold the some of the first batch of grey waste fittings that were made in the factory.
