M K Dons

I know that many will hate the way they were originally created, but setting that aside, with two games to go they are in with a chance of a play off place by playing football in the right way.
From the start of the season when they played us off the park and had to settle for a 1-1 draw, they never gave up on their playing style of keeping the ball and playing positive attacking football.  It didn’t always work out, but they stuck with it.
Huge congratulations to Chris Martin and his team for never giving up on their principles and even though they may just fall short, they have finished the season strongly and have momentum going into next season.

Russell Martin....

I bet them for promotion before the season started. Conceded too many early goals earlier in the season. They will do well next year.

Some people said MK Dons were relegation candidates at the start of the season.

They have a good manager who likes to play a passing game.
Some very good players in their squad.
They were never going to be relegation candidates imo.

They have an expensively assembled squad. When you look at the top of the league, so do lots of the teams up there. Hull City hung onto most of their Championship squad, Peterborough sold Toney but bought with ambition in JCH and Smodicz and those two have basically got them promoted. Sunderland have an expensive team, Blackpool invested heavily, same goes for the likes of Oxford and Portsmouth. It’s hard to compete if you don’t. Our new manager and head of recruitment will have a job on to get us competitive for next season.

I thought we had a top 6 budget?

I’m not sure the MK wage bill will be in the top 8 in L1. Jerome, McEachran and Surman are players contested to them that have played at a higher level. Fraser has been their best player, he was signed from Burton. Lewington has been there forever so likely to be one of the better earners. Grigg is on loan so likely not to be paying him his full wage.

Like you say Jonathan Posh have 2 players who have scored a bag full of goals and the team have consistently scored all season.
How many clean sheets have they kept. It is a genuine question because I haven’t looked but I would hazard a guess it is not an awful lot.

Actually Posh have kept more clean sheets than I thought.
17 in 43 league games which is pretty good for a DF team.

Pretty good recipe for success. Scoring goals and keeping clean sheets.

CBcb I think our score based on that is 1-1
You won’t be happy with 2-2 but 0-0 i can’t go with. :)

We did have the 5th least conceded in League One under DF when we got back up.
