Black Bank Stadium sounds good. It could be cut short to BB stadium informally.

There was a thread a few weeks ago on this
Unfortunately I don’t think we’d get any money calling it Black Bank Stadium although I like it

Not sure why it can’t be called for example the ‘Eco Power Black Bank Stadium’ then when the sponsor changes just put that in front of Black Bank, we would have some permanency then. I’m sure that’s what Rotherham’s has, sponsor name then New York Stadium.

I've often made the point we need to have a 'proper' name for our stadium regardless of sponsors, even if it's an unofficial one that only fans use. For example Lakeside Park or link it to a former player such as Albert Jenkins/Alick Jeffrey/Copps, or whatever we as fans might choose as a name. 'Earth Stadium' was always Belle Vue really. Huddersfield, Stoke, Bournemouth etc etc have all struggled with this name thing since moving to new grounds. They all end up with a 'no name' ground as sponsors come and go. We need a fixed name as well as a sponsor.

What about the New Belle Vue Ground?

Shrewsbury ground is called the New Meadow and it is nowhere near where the old ground was.

At least our ground isn't a million miles away from the original ground.

We can’t call it Belle Vue, not whilst the bogs are more than roofless walls with a gutter at the bottom.!

Assuming the new name starts from January as planned, the first home game is Rotherham.

I found my stadium opening match T shirt the other day. I couldn't get the chant of 'Mark McCammon - da da der da da' out of my head (with the Pigbag accompaniment also playing in my head).

Whilst I agree with this 100% I imagine that if the club were to give the stadium a proper name as well (for example Black Bank), it would subsequently be able to command less sponsorship money as people would always refer to it by its non-sponsorship name. If it is named exclusively after the sponsor, people have no option but to mention the sponsor's name every time they refer to the stadium. Nobody outside the marketing team ever called Belle Vue the Earth Stadium.

Yes the club have to maximise income but there is room for a bit of sentiment/history/local interest surely? It's the Lakeside Stadium by default anyway (stadium at Lakeside as DFP call it), might as well keep that and take the sponsors' cash too - [Sponsor name] Lakeside Stadium. All the other new grounds end up nameless after a few sponsors have come and gone.

Hopefully a big sponsor. If not, The Doncaster stadium will do.

It will always be the Keepmoat Stadium (KMS) to many Rovers fans no matter what they change it to.

I like the idea of giving it a player's name although for me of those you mentioned the name chosen would have to be a player who actually played there which would rule out Albert and Alick.

Black Bank was an area near the new stadium.

When it was first suggested people seemed to like, though quite a few joked when have Rovers ever been in the black at the bank?

How about The Gerrit For'ard stadium?

The Mallard Stadium?

Or more likely - The Lidl Arena.

You can call it the Robin Hood lemon popsicle soccer arena for all I care.

It’s the keepmoat.
And it always will be for me.

I’m going for The Nuttall Mintoes stadium, but there again that would probably only last 5 minutes, bit like our defence then!

I think this would have been the right way forward when the stadium first opened, but as others have alluded too, now that it has been the Keepmoat for 15 years, most people are just going to keep calling it the Keepmoat, just like they did with Belle Vue.

Yes, I think it will always be known as the Keepmoat, which is rather a good name despite the sponsorship due to the castle/fortress reference.

I guess those of us of a certain age will always refer to grounds by their traditional name, even the relatively new ones like Stadiuim of Light, Glandford Park, Pride Park, Madjeski stadium, New York Stadium etc irrespective of the sponsorship of the day.

I guess the test is how folk from other clubs refer to the ground. I suspect the Keepmoat will stick too.

Why don't we just accept that it's probably gonna be called Doncaster Sheffield Stadium?

If anything, it should be the Lady Bank Stadium.
