Adele

Just watching her show.

She probably is the authentic voice of working class Britain right now. What she does, she does very well.

I'm a fan of Amy Winehouse, more clued up with a greater grasp of music culture.

But Adele, she's pretty good.

Yes she's so good that I had the unfortunate experience of hearing her 1st 2 or 3 songs at Glastonbury before being able to fall asleep in my tent

I actually do think that she is great but is starting to get a bit up herself, she should stick with what got her to where she is now.

Awful, predictable, manufactured dirge. But if you like her then that's all that matters.

Music by numbers. Teenage angst for grown ups. Music to chop vegetables to on a Sunday lunchtime.
No, just no.

She is a miserable potty mouthed bag.

Like she is the only person who has gone through a break up.

I bought Mrs RD tickets to see her at Wembley. She cancelled on the day with promises of rebooking/priority if/when she puts on a concert again - never heard anything since

I find all her music sounds exactly the same. I think she has a very unique voice but she is so monotonous.

Give me grassroots music in a small venue any day of the week

Adele can only dream of being as good as Alison Moyet.

‘Manufactured dirge’!

Name me one current female singer/songwriter that’s on a par.

Oh, oh, wait a minute you can’t without dredging up female artists from 20 years ago.

Welcome to the 21st century cowboy.

That doesn’t win the argument…..
Just reinforces the fact that if Adele is the best of the current crop then they are all worse than manufactured dirge…

I’m sure your comments weren’t intended to insult ‘larger ladies’ with your clumsy ‘Ex fatty’ remark….then again, it’s sometimes difficult to see the light with your head stuck up your own arse.

That one’s for all you ‘fat bottomed girls’ out there. Where would we be without you x

Awful, predictable, manufactured dirge. But if you like her then that's all that matters.

What do you mean by predictable & awful?

Predictable like:-

Shirley Bassey,
Cilla Black,
Dionne Warwick,
Diana Ross,
Barbara Streisand,
Carol Carpenter,
Carol King,
Whitney Houston, need I go on?

The only one from that ‘small off the top of my head group at this tome of night’ that comes close to, imo, Adele is Carole Carpenter who, like Adele, wrote & sang the majority of their songs.

Still, what do those ‘plonkers’ know up against the ‘musical giants’ on this forum eh?

To me they're all on a par...in one ear and out of the other without making a mark, instantly forgettable - and that's if you notice them in the first place. Identikit songs that all sound the same, sung the same way, and nothing to make any of them stand out at all.

Ah right.

So if you make a slur at an individual you reckon that doesn’t put you in the same category as those who also just pick on an individual on social media? And there are plenty of cases of people taking their own lives as a result.

‘Fatty, skinny, spotty, goofy, lanky’ they’re all nasty slurs intent on being hurtful to the individual they’re used against whether directly or indirectly.

And putting ‘Ex’ in front of a slur doesn’t make it any less a slur.

I thought I’d offer you the benefit of doubt by calling your post clumsy but given the fact that you sought to justify your tasteless comment by stating ‘….was aimed at her alone.’ clearly shows what a bigot you are.

And here’s a tip for you, when you hit rock, stop digging.

I can’t bear to listen to her. The way she completely changes the pronunciation of words to make them ‘fit’ is cringeworthy.

I will never understand her popularity.

She's OK. A bit of a one-trick pony who has been selected by the media to be adored by the public, but she's OK.

but I guess I am a bigot, I’m also a few “ ists”  too……there are lots of things I dislike and feel no need to curtail my ways because it may offend …..

Colin, it's Karen Carpenter, and you're right, she did write her own music, along with her brother, and her voice was fantastic.

The other female singer I really rated from my era was Mama Cass Elliot.

Now I doubt that you'll be aware of how they both died at an early age, but I've always thought that if Karen Carpenter had eaten Mama Cass's ham sandwich, they'd both still be alive.

Another female singer from that era, who admittedly I didn't think much of - until I saw this. Incredible performance. The only singer I've ever seen match his vocals for power and energy.
