Good tactic TFE. I have a start word which may come up one day then a second Row word that as you say depends on what Guess 1 throws up

Eventually I hope to need a new Start word and may swap to my Seat buddies brilliant adieu

I know 2 people who use 'adieu' as their 1st attempt.
Is it possible that the Wordle compiler knows what words are the most popular start words and thus avoids using them? (I'm not a conspiracy theorist, it's justa simlke question).

I would maybe think they will be totally random , but wonder if it's an algorithm ? that chooses the word
" knowing" what words have been used previously .



I have "tentatively" answered my question about using past words to rule out potential guesses and is it ethical or cheating?

Just looking at the past Words app just now I spotted this at the bottom :

Wordle doesn't repeat words if it can help it. Perhaps one day the New York Times will need to start recycling old words, but there's an awful lot of viable five-letter words to choose from, so for now you can feel free to use this archive to check if the word you're about to guess has already been used previously, and therefore cannot be the solution to today's puzzle.


So "it" seems to think that using it is a justifiable resource to be used. Still not convinced but will try it lol

Remember the great 'fetus' furore (Let's not get distracted on the Yanks spelling of that word) when that was the Wordle initially but after a couple of hours but they changed it after some Yanks said it was inappropriate as the Wade v Roe debate was ongoing in Congress.
I'm sure I read a quote from the NYT that said -We decide the Wordle some weeks in advance'. Whether that decision was made by computer or human was not made clear.
