I've got lucky but right on the line, but your suggestion would have given me a 3-2 with a double Mug of course

I was on guess 3 when I came up with my wonder word , my saviour , which started with 4th letter of today's word but rushing back from loo showed it had gone

I didn't see the obvious and thought of another word that rhymed with the above but thought , no , that's not a word till I tried it in row 5 for 4 Green

I then shouted bloody idiot before checking that no other letter could go in middle , and didn't check whether it had been out lol .... just hammered it in and kicked myssen
