Happy Monday's are probably underrated for their music but really they were pretty ground breaking. A large part of the sound was Paul and his funky baselines.Gone much too soon.

Come on!Crying shame.I first saw the Mondays supporting New Order at the GMex in 1988. They were unlistenable. Absolute shambles. But then I listened to Bummed and 24 Hour Party People and I got it. Just genius. Rave music with a standard guitar/bass/drums set up. Irresistible.I saw them supporting James a few months later at Trent Poly and they blew them away. None of that tight arse indie introspective shite. This was proper north of England funk. Christ I feel old.
