For those interested the point about last night's gig was moot, and almost mute as well. I could hardly hear them - it turns out they played an acoustic set for about 5K people. Last time they played considerably further away in front of 35K and I heard everything. Also the wind was blowing the wrong way so the sound didn't travel well in my direction. Still trying to work out if it was a shame or a blessing.

Arcade fire tomorrow night, I don't think they've been fully cancelled yet.  Always good value live.

Stereophonics.

A lead singer/songwriter, (Kelly Jones, who can also play guitar & keyboards)  two guitarists & a great drummer.

Been together 25 years.

A ‘proper’ band.

Kelly has a very distinctive voice and he's not a bad song writer too. A bit retro for me but I wouldn't complain.

The Lovely Eggs - long catelogue of inspiring noise, not to be missed live.

The Mysterines - their first offerings were great, impressed they've kept the quality with their latest.

The Bug Club - newish young trio from Caldicot, fun and absolutely cracking live.

Slothrust - female guitar, singer, songwriter. Quirky but rocking.

Coco Rosie - I can't get enough of them, though no one on here is going to like them  :silly:

The Lovely Eggs are ace. I've got Cob Dominos on vinyl signed by Hollie and David. My mates ex-missus was mates with them.

Ferocious Dog, The Leylines, Gaz Brookfield and Rusty Shackle are but a few of my current favourites.

You must go the Wroot rocks gigs if this lot are your bag. I’m going to Ey up mi duck festival in Epworth next May which is full of this type of band

I do indeed. Also Gig in a Field Festivals that is also run by Neil and Amber from Wroot Rocks.
I went to Ey Up Mi Duck this year and it was absolutely awesome. So incredibly friendly and not the slightest bit of rubbish left behind on site after either. I had tickets for next year the second they went on sale! :)

Didn't Beans on Toast play this year? I found out about it late and tickets were all sold out.

He did Rob, he has played at Wroot Rocks too. He is so good live Beans, up there with my favourites.

Neil and Amber have got quite a following now, their small festivals and gigs generally sell out straight away so you have got to be on it to get tickets. I would highly recommend following Wroot Rocks on Facebook or Instagram to keep up to date with their events.

They’ve also started putting on gigs at Cafe Indie in Scunthorpe.

Stereophonics are so bland. Would gladly give away any tickets free if i won them for a Stereophonics gig.

Having on a lot of Primus, Coheed & Cambria and also oddly enough Ozrics on lately.

Yeah not managed to make it to one of those yet. Incredibly tempted by Gaz Brookfield in October.

They're a bonkers couple, so lovable and down to earth. During lockdown they did some zoom sessions, one was a classic. Intended as them answering questions and chatting whilst playing their fave vinyl. Lasted hours, and a lot of alcohol on their side.

Indeed, quite a few didn't turn up for the gig which was sold out but only about 75% full I'd say.  Fair to say given the claims the song choices were interesting (they opened with rebellion lies).

But the gig was brilliant and the new album superb live.

Caught a bit of 6 music yesterday, Giles Petersson. He specialises in the obscure. Anyway he played a track called A Ver A Ver by Donald. Now this apparently is an Argentine producer who goes by the unlikely name of Donald McCloughsky or something very Scottish sounding, I forget. Anyway it's a really cool electro funk sound, worth checking. I'll put up a link in a bit.

A clip here.

On a musical theme. I've just read that a US Court has dismissed a mans claims that a photograph of him taken as a baby that was used for the iconic cover from Nirvana's album Nevermind was sexual abuse. Claiming he had taken far too long to bring a case.

I'm generally a miserable sod but even if that baby was me, it is surely something to be proud of rather than seek damages for. To be able to say that you were the main focus of one the most iconic album covers in musical history must surely trump trying to win a few quid?!

I'd be dining out on that story for ever.

The bloke who tried to claim against Nirvana does it every couple of years, with comments like it’s ruined his life etc. In other words he’s trying to scam them for money

For those who mentioned Wroot Rocks...this is their festival for next August. Tickets went on sale yesterday. Will have sold out by the end of the day.

Back in July I saw The Strokes, Fontaines DC & Wet Leg at Lytham St Anne's.

All three were quality, I've since picked up the new Fontaines album Skinty Fia and its a great listen.
