5 goals in 10 games. An impressive rate of 1 in 2, despite having to play all but one game up front on his own, running his b*ll*cks off.

Very good signing.

agreed plus i have backed him for the golden boot going on his form in the pre seasons some might say a waste of my cash but he looks the part when playing 2 up front lets hope GM recognises this and sticks with 2 forwards

Talking of 2 up front, we will soon have Griffiths back, but there’s no news on Andrews?

He was only signed until January and we are basically in October so I don’t think we are going to see much of him at all, if anything now.

I like Miller. I like the way he comes across as a really humble lad and not the typical poser with loads of tattoos and who can't play football, like Cukur and dare i say Griffiths?

A real unassuming guy and who i have a lot of respect for.

He runs his socks off and you can tell he just wants to do well and put his best foot forward. He's OK in my book.

I backed him after he had the penalty at Northampton, without them I couldn’t see him scoring enough. Then was annoyed the game after when Tomlin took it against Mansfield.

Nice to see him get 2 yesterday though. The golden boot would be nice (Hoskins flying!) but top 3 will do!

I was lucky enough to meet Miller in the summer and spent fifteen minutes or so chatting with him.
He does come over a a nice bloke who loves his football.

I commented in the lucky pint thread yesterday, that i thought he looked a yard off the pace, (20 mins into the game) as he did against Swindon, but he certainly grew into it especially after the pen. Maybe he was down in confidence possibly after GM Comments.

Or maybe its just me.

Most players won’t like being vilified by the manager.

The instinct he showed for his second goal came about from the confidence he'd gained from scoring the penalty. Definitely benefited from having Agard alongside him too.

Yeah was lucky with the deflection off the defender but it was a really intelligent run what he made

It’s 3 non penalty goals in 10 games. That’s the rate you would expect him to score at based on his previous numbers. 0.3 goals per game. It’s not really good enough considering he offers pretty much zero in general play.

That’s just my opinion though.

Yes, he’s scored 5, but using penalty’s scored when judging the quality of a player/ players goal output, is inaccurate.

I’d agree with this - penalties, like all goals, count, and they need to be put away, but they’re not reflective of a striker’s output.

I think it’s harsh to assess Miller’s record so far, though - he’s in a new team and in plenty of games he’s been completely starved of any service. He’s doing alright so far, and hopefully will pick up when the team and midfield start playing better/offering better service and support.

I know the opposition were below standard (no disrespect) but he scored in the friendlies too

Sorry but in my opinion penalties count as much as any other goal..  there’s probably more pressure on the taker as he is expected to score.

I'd agree with that. Yes, it is a free shot at goal, but a penalty taker is always expected to hit the back of the net. No excuses.

I hadn’t seen him play in any pre season friendlies but reading reports about him I backed him at 25/1 each way to be top goal scorer, blind faith I know but it will be rewarded

Tell that to Stuart Pearce, Chris Waddle & Gareth Southgate.

Well yes but before they took the penalties, fans expected them to score. Which was kind of the point IDM was making.

The players themselves may not have expected to but that is a different issue.

Analysts/scouts at any club will discount penalties when looking at data about strikers. It doesn’t mean the goal is worth any less, it’s just distortive.

Try telling that to Kane and Salah. The only one who has come near them up to now is Son who doesn't take pelanties. I'm assuming with the start he's made Haaland is a shoe in for golden boot this season ....... without taking pelanties

His movement is good.  That'll shift defenders out of position and give them the headache of picking up or passing on, creating space for others.  You can influence a game without touching the ball.

I like him.  Also backed him to be top scorer at 40/1...

His movements not good outside the box. It’s ok inside the box though.

Gaz, he’s made numerous good runs outside the box, but if the ball is continually played sidewards and backwards, he’s never going to get noticed! Hopefully, Close can help to change that.

My only problem with Miller is, he seems to want an extra touch before shooting and has missed possible goal opportunities more than once this season. Might be a confidence thing though

He addressed that in his interview - held his hand up and said he should have got a shot off against Swindon and if that had fallen to him on Saturday after scoring he would have smashed it

Rather him be in the position to actually have an opportunity in the first place than not. Which is what we got with our strikers (i use that term very loosely indeed) last season. Be grateful he's getting in positions to get opportunities.

We are in L2.
If Miller was as good as we want him to be he wouldn’t be L2 with us.
