Sounds like DS & JC have the players they want. DS stated nothing really down yet or people spoke to BUT he was very clear on the type of player he wants. Makes me think negotiations are happening already.
Long is a good defender if you are playing compact and deep, we don’t play that way. On the transfer market, it is tough to do good business in this window. Patience is needed to get the right ones. We don’t need bodies in, each one has to be brought in to fit into a system the manager wants to play. If you can’t get the right ones then you have to muddle through with what you have. If that was the case we wouldn’t get promoted, we are just short in areas.
I’d say top of list is a central striker. Then next on list is central midfielder with bit more spark and bite than Close and Biggins. Then third on list if we can afford that far, a dynamic wide player with real pace. They would be my three signings.
Adam Idah. Has been in and out at Norwich City. Not really broken through yet.
I can’t say I’ve read every word that has emerged from the club on this subject, but you might have hoped that they would have said where they see the priority areas of the squad which need reinforcements. There are strong opinions on here about the weaknesses, but what do DS and JC see as the most important?Do they concentrate on players for particular positions or just cast the net generally and hope some deals come off?It is somewhat irritating to hear that they don’t feel obliged to move early. Are they waiting to see what’s left after the intense activity in pursuit of the best is over?
It's good to keep things close to their chests (even if it is frustrating for us fans).Objectively though we've seen Andrews go back with no impact, Tomlin left also so there's 2 gaps up the top end already there, not to mention Taylor now confirmed out for this season (will he ever come back?).That's a pretty significant gap and one we simply have to fill. For me the burden on Miller is too much, at some times he needs a rest and we need a different approach when the tactical shape needs to change. Agard can nick the odd goal but he's got next to zero mobility up the top end. Then there's Griffiths who can't even make a squad, right now he's looking a woeful signing unless he can find some sort of form and fitness. For me in this window I'd like a striker who can also play wide, a number 10 who can unlock defences, a central midfielder and potentially depending on injuries a centre half who can pass the ball.
I get that he doesn’t want to talk about transfers. That’s fine. But what’s happening with the injuries. Would be good to have a more structure update on this, rather than morsels dripped out in the Free Press now and again.

Press interviews do present an opportunity for the Head Coach to improve the way fans regard him. It is not a matter of providing as little information as you think will satisfy the questioner - and as has been said, that does not require much effort.I cannot say that I dislike him, but when I do listen, I hear similar things to what I’ve heard from him before, often more than once, and quite frankly he is not inspiring. If we are to believe he can do a good job he needs to show that he is more perceptive than comes through. Copps could and ought to be teaching him a thing or two about PR.
Never really understand why we have to leave it until the end of the month to get our business done. If we know who we want, why not do all the negotiations done before the window opens then get them signed when it opens?

It's not about trying to gain popularity other than from the way the team performs so as long as he can inspire the players to play well enough that's all that matters isn't it?
You're old enough and wise enough to know we don't always leave it to the end of the window. How many days of the window had elapsed when we signed George Miller, Luke Molyneux, James Maxwell, Kyle Hurst, Josh Andrews, Adam Long etc etc?
