Best player-King Alick; world class

Worst player-Thiago Cukur

Best value for money-Copps

Biggest flop-Carl Alford

Player who didn't reach his potential-King Alick; had he not broke his leg, he would probably have captained Man Utd, and possibly England too.

Denis Souza , you know for a season he was immense at the heart of our defence , played magnificently in the FA cup wins in 2008 against Liverpool and Chelsea .

Funny old game .

Carl Alford scored 139 goals in 219 games before joining us
His club Stevenage who we paid £50.000 to he scored 42 goals in 39 games.

He has to be the biggest flop we have had.   1 goal in 17 games

Best ever player Ian Snodin ( never saw King Alick )
Best value signing has to be Copps at £30.000
Player who never reached potential Liam Mandeville but he is one of many.

If Ian Snodin had not had so many bad injuries he would have been an England international, he could have even captained the side

The only goal Alford scored for us was a penalty, against Hayes. Away as well. Never scored for us at Belle Vue. Amazing really.

Alford's successes everywhere else does make you wonder just what our manager of the time was playing at doesn't it?

Not sure you can say Chris Brown didn’t fulfil his potential. I would have said quite the opposite.

I said Mandeville but someone said Andy Watson. Would agree about him. Plucked from Garforth Town by Ian Snodin. On his day he was a match winner but he so rarely produced it. Loads of ability. Such a shame he wasted it. Same with Mandeville. He should have gone on to play at Championship level 100% imo.

It’s all about attitude and desire.  So many players don’t fulfil their potential. We have had our fair share.

Mile Newell as a flop. 100%. He was hopeless.

Best: Alick Jeffrey

Worst: Either Dave Smith or Mirsad Bubalovic

Flop: Alford

Did not reach potential: Controversially Alick, without injury he would have been world class

Value: Although obviously Copps, another way of looking at things might suggest Marquis (Free), Wellens (Free), Whiteman (150K) and Mills (300K) all produced huge profits on resale. However my left field choice - Dennis Leigh. He and Watson were transferred for Wilcockson, Rabjohn and Clish +8K. A year later Watson was bought for 8K meaning effectively Leigh was sold for those three great players all on his own

Steve Nicol. What a player.
Conference was a doddle for him. He had so much time when on the ball and was Bobby Moore esq with his tackles and interceptions.

Did you mean his dad Alan? If he'd have stayed fit we'd have been close to promotion that season.

Best player I've seen Ian Snodin.Got me thinking about Mike Newell.Had an open goal at Dover in the Trophy and put it against the cross bar.Got beat 1-0 . Got the Donny Star on the Monday he'd been transferred to Blackpool.Remember Andy Watson Best roofer in Garforth.Best value Duggie. Biggest flop Justin Jackson was one of the biggest.Potenial Tommy Gaynor if he'd kept off the drink.

How good would Duggie have been if he didn’t drink?  That’s the question.
Possibly the drink actually made him play better, but i don’t think that would apply to 99% of footballers.

OK. I go back a long way!
Best player - King Alick, no question.
Worst - any one of the 97/98 team apart from Lee Warren.
VFM - has to be Copps.
Flop - Long list but I'd go for either Aiden Butterworth or Justin Jackson.
Potential - Alick, (still head and shoulders above the rest even after injuries), John Nicholson, (tragically), and Tony Coleman - fantastic player but his own worst enemy.
Hard to pick out individuals after following Rovers for 60 odd years, different eras and all that. I've seen some brilliant players in our colours and some that were poor beyond belief. All part of being a Rovers fan I guess.
