There’s clearly a good player in there somewhere but we’ve rarely seen it. Forrester is a good comparison. Is it because of the system and what he’s being told to do? If he was just told to do what you do best, keep wide, cut in and shoot loads or get crosses in would that do it?
But Schofield’s never going to say hug the left touchline, take people on. He’s a wide player and we don’t play with any width.
We’re talking about the system and the role he’s deployed in etc.But Luke is a grown man who has moulded himself in to that role. He’s in his mid 20s so should be in his prime. With the rate of the decline of the standard of football at this club we don’t have time next season to see if he’s up to it. Apart from one game in 29, we haven’t seen much evidence of sufficient talent.xG of 1.89 all season by the way.
I’m not sure if he’s a wingerless winger or a footballess footballer!Probably both as he’s just plain shit!

What is this xG thingy
I actually thought molyneux had a good first half yesterday and was the one who looked most likely to score, second half he faded and tbh probs should’ve come off earlier than he did (again, DS made the subs too late). Clearly is a player in there somewhere it’s just that we need to find the right way to utilise him. Ppl saying play him on the left are wrong aswell, he’s never played on the left, at Hartlepool he was always on the right cutting in onto his left and 90% of his goals came that way.
Quote from: Draytonian III on March 08, 2023, 08:38:35 amWhat is this xG thingy A metric that judges players against the quality of the chances they take/don't take. Top strikers like Kane generally score at or above their xG, that is to say they score more difficult chances as well as the sitters. We all know Kane is a great finisher, but xG puts a number on it and tells you how good he is.If you fluff loads of chances from 6 yards out you'll end up scoring at a rate lower than your xG, which means these players are getting in great positions and not converting. This can be used to find undervalued, high potential players who go under the radar because they don't score enough goals, but they could in the right team. There is a lot more to it obviously, but those turning their nose up should be aware there's a reason historically similar size clubs like Brentford, Brighton etc use this metric smartly along with many others, and that's why they are where they are, and why we are where we are.Not saying fans should particularly care - personally I don't go to games with a notebook and calculator out - but the club should, and there's no evidence that they do.
One trick pony whose trick isn’t very good.
