Baffling.Defensively we've been awful for two seasons. The only reason Anderson would get a two and a half year contract, is if we know we're not going to get anyone better. He's injury prone and way past his best. In my humble opinion obvs
There seems to be a huge amount of presumption on this thread that he's been given a new contract with exactly the same wage as his existing one.Surely we're not beyond giving some basic credit to the club and presuming that the facts that the club is a level below where it was when he signed, and that he's had injury issues, will undoubtedly have been factored into what's been offered. He may not be as great as he was, he may not be our star centre half, but he's a solid pro who can be an excellent player at this level and can do a job at the level above, and the one thing we've lacked in recent years is continuity in our squad. If he is on the same wage he was when he first signed then fine that ought to be criticised, but I'm willing to bet sums I don't have that he won't be.
Past his best, Copps must expect us to stay in this division for that time
Whether people like it or not we are stuck with three at back next season. Nelson will go. That leaves us with Anderson. Long is not fancied and I doubt Faulkner will be a starter for a good while next season yet. That only leaves us with Ro-Shaun and he is out of contract. You do wonder if the relative absence of centre backs means he may get an extension also. Olowu potentially on his way you might imagine.
Looking to next season I think we need another senior centre back, sign Brown if we can, probably two HIGH ENERGY central midfielders, pace on the width, and at least one central option to Miller. Re-sign Olowu. We might just have a chance of competing next season.
The medical staff haven’t got a great record on judging player fitness
