I see that you are working your magic and the property market is tanking in the big city's over there with a double digit reset of minus 10 to 12 percent.
I feel for your neighbours with that happening and carrying the extra burden.

I'd be very happy for that to happen over here too. Property prices are ludicrous in comparison to average earnings so I worry about my kids ever being able to buy their own homes. On a selfish note we're also looking to up-size so any percentage loss on our sale would be more than recovered in the price of the bigger house.

Yes. Went walking in the Peaks on Sunday. Looked in an estate agents window in Hathersage.
The only house/cottage under £650,000 was a shabby looking semi for £350,000.
Some were over £1million.
Ridiculous.

Edit
How they get people to work in the pubs, cafes and shops in the countryside is beyond me.

My sister lives in the hope valley.
Utterly ridiculous house values.
And she gets snowed in for winter on occasion.
A very pretty place to live.
But not very practical if you need to get about or commute.

We massively underestimate how much housing costs in other parts of the country compared to here. Very lucky in Donny in comparison and it's still expensive for most here.

It brought me here though, had it not been way cheaper I doubt I'd have returned.

House prices in this country are a national disgrace.

We've allowed a basic human right - the right to a roof over your head - to become an instrument of consolidating wealth into fewer and fewer hands.

We should be ashamed.

Thorne Mate of mine is selling his house , found sales particulars from when he bought it 21 years back . Now he's done a lot to it no doubt, but it's gone from 105k to 430k in that time ,

Mine has doubled in price since we bought it 12 years ago and we've done next to nothing to it. It's just ridiculous. Obscene in fact.

I made 30% on a new build in 6 years. It’s farcical.

I moved from Donny to Derby in 2005. When I left Donny, I sold a 2 bed terrace in central Donny for £62.5k that I'd bought in 98 for £13.5k and rented out from day 1.
In Derby in 2005, you could still buy 2 bed terraces for £20k.
Property in Derby is still cheaper than Donny which is making it a little difficult for me to move back.
