He was getting almost as much stick 18 months ago from people on here as schofield is now

It's all to do with the budget.

He took Orient from relegation to 14th last season and with the right resources and backing they’ve achieved promotion and  probably Champions

I'm not justifying or comparing here, it's just a fact that he made terrible signings, delivered terrible football and terrible results for us. Overall, he was a terrible manager for us.

Not sure their budget is the reason, they only signed 3 players, all free transfers I believe too.

Wasn’t a fair bit of money thrown at it last season? And this season it’s paid off.

He's done very well there's no doubting that. The fact is as Doncaster manager he was very poor. Was that due to him not able to get the right players? We will never know. Be interesting to see how they do next year.

He was bad for us but we’ve managed to get worse. He’s at least proved he’s a good manager at this level it was just poor signings, did he make them or Younger?, and bad timing fir him.

DS and McSheffery without success before they entered the circus probably won’t get another chance of a top job.

Wellens didn’t use his budget effectively, that was his problem
Close, knoyle, Williams, Rowe were expensive and left not much cash for everywhere else

Exactly. So what is DS’s excuse then dickos.
No he doesn’t have one.

No he doesn’t have one.

He’s had a full summer signing his own players and getting them to play the way he wants them to.
It’s not difficult really to fathom

If you look at Wellens managerial career, success at Swindon & Orient, sacked by Oldham, Salford & us, the further away from Manchester he has been, the better his record.

Something for him to ponder maybe.

Well done to him. Rovers legend as a player. Took over at a very difficult time as a manager and it was sad that it didn't work. Glad to see he's bounced back and is proving again that he is a decent manager.

You're entitled to your opinion. For me, not many better midfielders have played for the club in my time. Huge part of the 2007/08 promotion team, and he was excellent in two Championship seasons for us.

Congratulations to him.
He has proved he is able to man manage players

What happened at Rovers who knows. The Bogle situation was farcical.
The non signing of a decent striker was also farcical.

Well they have spent almost twice as much as us on Agents fees https://www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk/sport/football/how-much-every-league-two-club-has-paid-on-agents-fees-according-to-latest-football-association-figures-and-where-doncaster-rovers-stevenage-walsall-tranmere-rovers-and-crawley-town-rank-4099730

The term Legend doesn’t apply to good players, Colin Douglas wasn’t a brilliant player but he’s a legend . Rufus Brevitt was a very good player but not a legend

Along with Stock they were the best two midfield players I’ve watched. Snodins were good Mcindoe was good and of late Whiteman but Stock and Richie did their work in the Championship as well as league one.

I wish we had a side like Leyton Orient for just over £50 grand extra!

Point is,not in every case but often, the amount spent on agents fees should be a good indicator of how much the budget/wage bills will be in comparison with each club.IF they only signed 3 players, they must be well regarded players on a good wage,or also extended contracts of existing players that they wanted to eagerly keep or risk losing like we lost Knoyle.Although Richie's success this season, maybe nothing to do with having a bigger budget,it may just be he is a good manager at League two level, but he struggles at league one standard, upto now anyway.

My only problem with Richie was how he held grudges against people like Omar Bogle who could’ve made a big difference to us - Wellens chose to play without a striker altogether for 5-6 games rather than swallow his pride and bring Omar back from the table tennis table. Now as we all know Omar wasn’t a great centre forward but he was at least a striker by trade - this is what cost Wellens his job imo.

We will never know.
What we do know is Bogle was a better option than Dodoo or Curkur.

He has scored 9/10 for Newport this season hasn’t he.
Yes it’s a league lower and I would suggest league 2 is probably his level.
How many will he score against us on Saturday?   ;)
