The front page of The Mirror yesterday got it right I think

They fought and died for our freedom
Freedom of speech, thought and protest
To Suella Braverman… how dare you try to take that away?
To the marchers… remember who won you those freedoms
To Britain… we must resist all cynical efforts to whip up hatred

I would be wary if you gov polls. I remember one they did in covid time that said around 20% of people wanted nightclubs permanently closed forever.

" They fought and died for our freedoms including free speech " is absolutely true but it comes with responsibility too .

It comes with compliance with law and order too .

You can't say what the hell you want , you really can't .

You can't call for Jihad for instance , you can't promote acts of terrorism , it's illegal to do so .

Whether doing so actually leads to your arrest and acted upon by the police to obtain a conviction may be difficult for a variety of reasons , the march this afternoon would probably be especially difficult to start arresting marchers given the sheer numbers of protesters and the likelihood doing so could escalate matters further .

However speeches such as the one in the link are illegal under UK law .

I'd also suggest that anyone organising or attending a Pro Israeli march today or at any time currently through Dewsbury town centre for instance would potentially face problems and wouldn't be the greatest idea in the world , free speech or not .

It is because the government want a riot, they are the people standing around laying wreathes for them who sent them to be slaughtered essentially.

They want to use this as an excuse to cut out our ability to peacefully protest which is happening in the U.K.

The totalitarian and authoritarian country we are becoming.

Remembrance day is just PR and a showbiz event.

Based on say a vote of 2000 ish people, with a population of approx 67+ million.

Plus Yougov was founded by a Tory as well.

So the Labour Party's lead over the Tories by around 20% is a load of b*ll*cks?
[/quote]

I do believe the support for Labour is depleting, obviously with Keir Starmer and his key cabinet and who they get donations from. Private health companies hmmm.. and also with this Israel Palestine situation.

And people who vote Tories aren't necessarily going to vote for Labour which does present a problem for them. They'll most like either go Lib Dems, Reform (Tory lite), Green, Independents etc.

A lot of constituencies only have marginal majorities in the thousands they can soon be turned around.

I do still predict a Labour hung parliament though however. Which is really poor considering how shocking Tories are.

That said sign up to this and share https://tacticalvote.co.uk/   #stopthetories

Billy, Nobody tells me anything especially Mike Graham, I watch a wide range of news casts TRT, Al Jazeera, and France 24 especially because I don't want to be clone of the BBC leftist propaganda you spout, there is another world out there you need to look at and get out of your life bubble.
I have a mind of my own, you want to try it sometime you might surprise yourself and have time for other people and not continually make assumptions of others you know nothing about.
I still hold hope out for you that you will eventually grow up, but it looks like a long hard road.

Far right thugs scrapping among themselves and the police at the cenotaph right now. Very respectful!

Braverman whistled, the dogs heard it.

I wouldn't go as far as rtid91 says but I sort of see his point. While there are still plenty of people who observe remembrance Day for the right reasons, I have noticed a definite change in my lifetime as ww1 and ww2 veterans have passed away.

It's turned into nationalist Christmas for some people. You only have to look at the scenes at the cenotaph today for evidence of that. You feel that if Wilfred Owen published his poetry today, a section of society would call him an unpatriotic virtue signalling leftie.

What I was trying to say is you see such as Tony Blair who led us into the war with Iraq.

What I was trying to put across was is they are trying to incite trouble so it gives the government even more of an excuse to stop peaceful protest.

Aren’t most polls based on a very small percentage of our 67 million population.
I guess we will see over the weekend whether the pro Palestinian march creates any confrontation.
My guess is that it will get very messy.

It did get messy, but I assume you weren't assuming it would be by Braverman and her EDL fan boys? The Palestinian march has been largely peaceful from what I've seen.

I have just come in and haven’t seen any news or footage of what has gone on at the cenotaph today.
I will be very surprised though if I see Braverman in the pictures.
My guess that it would get messy was simply based on the fact that these marches were taking place and  that there would be opposition to them by some group or another.
It was virtually guaranteed in my opinion.
Of course it could get worse tomorrow.

BBC currently reporting 92 right wing bellends have been arrested.

Same with The Sun, Daily Mail, Telegraph, Express, Daily Star, GB News, Talk TV, Metro (didn't realise they are owned by the Daily Mail).

The whole lot of them just by us purchasing newspapers and watching their T.V programmes, reading their articles online makes them money.

Read something like Byline times, not run by oligarchs !

Boycott !

No, of course i didn't think you meant Braverman would be there in person (we really do need a tongue in cheek emoji on here).
As i said earlier, the fact that there even was a march today guarantees trouble from someone.
I agree that Braverman is a plonker as well.
The police should have enough good video evidence to get some of that mob arrested and fined for what they are doing.
Expect more tomorrow,

With all the modern technology Tyke i wouldn't believe that old adage any more.
However, i would believe that the picture you have posted from X is true and i'm not in the least bit surprised by it.
Confrontational and expected.

After Oct 7th Hamas attacks, Rivkah Brown from Novara Media tweeted:

“Today should be a day of celebration for supporters of democracy and human rights worldwide, as Gazans break out of their open-air prison and Hamas fighters cross into their colonisers' territory. The struggle for freedom is rarely bloodless and we shouldn't apologise for it.”

The left's obsession with the pro Palestinian cause never fails to amaze me , normally decent , credible and intelligent people who make extremely good calls on many other topics end up becoming half wits on this subject .

I've seen Bastani on GB News as the lone lefty convince the other guests of the failing rail industry and the merits of nationalisation .

Then claim of democracy and the existence of human rights in an Islamic State whilst trumpeting mass murder by terrorists .

What part of the annihilation of the state of Israel don't they get ?

All in all a well attended march and the only violence coming from the government proxies

Gove walks through Vic station, which is his right, but coincides with the end of a Palestinian demo in the area, which I guess gets the result he wanted.
