Quote from: big fat yorkshire pudding on December 12, 2023, 08:01:13 pmI saw bits of what he said in parliament today. He has a point in some ways even if we don't all want to admit it.Really? You'd be scared to let your kids play outside because a foreign family moved in next door? You think A&E gets full because none of the doctors speak English? Which bit of his nonsensical, rambling racist speech, that was based on an obvious fantasy, did you find yourself agreeing with?

What Fletcher is doing obviously needs spelling out, because there are people in here who lap it up.He's saying1) Public services have collapsed. True2) Immigration has increased. True.3) 1 is because of 2. False.1) has happened because his party of spivs, barrow boys, and economically illiterate class warriors have f**ked the economy and massively under funded public services. That gives an opening to a thick racists like Fletcher to blame everything on the dirty, thieving foreign bas**rds. It's a story as old as the hills. It's an excuse for inherent racism. And every time it happens, there are people who cannot wait to agree with it.
The nicest kids in my street are from families from Mauritius and Romania.

Why are we once again talking about extremes?Fletcher is an idiot. His ability to articulate the issues facing his community is at best pathetic and at worst racist. Let’s not be like him. Public services are under strain. Fact. For many reasons; austerity being one of them, they have not collapsed.Illegal immigration shows no sign of abating. Fact.Illegal immigration and its cost, is inter connected with public funds. I’d rather spend 7 million quid every day on the NHS, than on hotel accommodation. Most of the uk population would agree with this.

NR.You don't produce more money for public services by reducing overseas students who contribute £30-40bn a year to the economy. That is the policy of this GovtI've been saying for years, they don't want to solve this issue. They want people to suffer and blame The Other. It's all they have.
NRLook at the polls. One of the groups of "immigrants" (sic) that gets the highest support for policies that reduce the numbers is overseas students. This Govt COULD educate people about the massive benefits that the country gets from welcoming overseas students, both in immediate income and in the long term links with people who will drive the economies of their own countries when they return. But they don't. They introduced policies last week aimed at satisfying the ill informed prejudices of people who just don't want foreigners here.
I wonder what residents around the Lincolnshire air base set to house immigrants think about them moving in there.Possibly NIMBY?

Let's not forget the clearing out of the left not just recently with Labour but since the late 70's has played a huge contribution in the rise of Popularism .The often smug replies of well you are only enabling Trump , Farage , Le Penn , Tories or even fascism if you don't vote for liberal democracy .How's about Liberal Democracy stopped being so shyte , stopped telling people " there's no other way " and actually did something about capitalism and poverty .Liberal Democracy might like to accept some blame if it wasn't so stuck up its self , telling people this is as good as it gets and then scratch their heads when nobody listens anymore .
