Piece from Lincoln site....

https://staceywest.net/2024/01/22/the-story-ends-hakeeb-adelakun-leaves-on-loan/

Looks like his face didn't fit and he was played out of position - Lincoln don't like wingers.....
He is out of contract at the end of the season and might be a possible replacement for Jon Taylor...?

Out of position? He can play anywhere along the front according to Grant.

I asked my young friend who covers Lincoln matches for the Uni paper as part of his Media Studies this is what he reported back

Lincoln have been trying to get rid of him for a couple years now. He's their top earner, out of contract at end of the season. Wasn't even in training in the summer, but with all the injuries, he got some games. Played okay, but nothing to write home about. Could be decent in league two, but it all depends on his mentality. If he wants to play he can be good. If it's a try before you buy he might put a good shift in. Not that quick, but pretty skilful. Good long throw.

Good to know that he scored in the Harrogate friendly - his first appearance for Rovers

My lad’s Lincoln friend says he is a 10/10 one game and a 2/10 the next. In fairness that’s standard for this level. If he puts in 10/10 performances every couple of games I am sure we will all be happy enough
Well 10/10 every other game is far better than our whole squad are achieving, there’s no one that’s put on a Rovers shirt this season who deserving of 10/10

Why sign a right winger when we have Moly nailed on to play there and JT coming back? I think Grant may have him covering the central spot. Don’t really get the thinking regarding the balance of the squad at the minute.

Can we really rely on JT to get/stay fit?! Harken can play anywhere across the front 3 and his versatility is probably one of the reasons grant moved for him when he caught wind he was available this window.

Personally I could maybe see Hurst dropping into a 10 position for us

Can he play in any of the front 3 positions? Possibly in the same way anyone with two legs can. Can he play them all affectively though? Certainly not.

As you have already said earlier in this thread - you obviously don't think so.  However, that's what the article (from staceywest.net) says... and, with no disrespect intended, I think I'd sooner take their opinion as they actually have watched him play a few times...

Lincoln are wanting to be a top 10 league one club so they’re going to have different standards aren’t they?

It was only in 20/21 that Hakeeb was doing well enough for Hull (under the system and staff we have) to be recalled by Bristol City who were Championship at the time.

If he’s a good pro as reported and he clicks here it is a good signing. It’s not a progressive data-driven up-and-coming ripely aged signing on a permanent. But, I haven’t seen many of those in league 2 from anyone in January, never mind from the team sat in 20th.

If he’s no good. Then it’s only a loan!

Not sure I like the smell of this one.

Seems he has an initial good burst of form and then drops off.

What are the odds that he plays out of his skin for a couple of months, we offer him a 2.5 year deal, and then his form collapses?

Are we smart enough to dangle the carrot of a contract to get his focus for the next few months, then say thanks but no thanks?

I think we all know how this ends

Do you rate your judgement as better than Grant’s? Clearly you must do by making that statement.

Scored today playing off the left

I think he’s likely to play there. Don’t think it’s his best spot though and also hinders the progress of Hurst.

Up to date, Hurst has hindered the progress of Hurst with his injuries moreso than players keeping him out of the team. If he's back fully fit now he should relish the competition.

Alternatively. it strengthens the squad, provides cover for injuries and increases the competition for places.

I guess it all depends how you view these things.

I reckon he gets a good return of 5 goals
