Oasis

Has anyone tried to get tickets then?

Has anyone got some?

I have to say I never saw them live, despite really liking the first album. I started going off them after the second album. All those Abbey Rd strings... Wonderwall put me off.

Saw them at Sheffield Arena in '95,  support was supposed to be The Verve but they pulled out so were replaced last minute by Pulp.
Great show by Oasis but Pulp were better.

First 1.5 albums were magnificent. They distilled the whole of British rock music up until that point into a dozen or so tracks. The ultimate example of the Hegelian dialect process in rock music, all formulated inside Noel Gallagher's head while he was on the Inspirals' tour bus.

It's the Beatles, T Rex, Glam Rock, Punk, Jesus & Mary Chain and Stone Roses all cooked up into a new mix.

After that they were just a shite Beatles tribute band.

How on earth did Pulp get tied in with the Brit Pop thing?

Brit Pop being a media invented business that just took in young pop musicians. Blur, The Spice Girls, Robbie Williams anybody.

Oasis were part of a scene of northern rock music revivalists. Possibly started by the Smiths but including The La's and Stone Roses, The Verve and maybe Doves.

Nothing whatsoever to do with Blur and Pulp.

Tried for 5 hours and gave up.
Saw them 4 times and they were incredible each time. I’m gutted to miss out.

Apparently 14m people tried for tickets. Not bad for a “tribute band”.

Yep, I think they are a band that has grown more popular during their retirement. They never had time to try and break America while they were performing. The internet has allowed them to reach further. And the constant bickering in the press has kept the band in the public eye.

Not too fussed as I did see them on the last tour in 2009 but the ticket situation was mental. I'm not even sure the last tour sold out. Amazing how a band can grow by simply not being around.

Well, all about opinions, I still like to listen to them.

Timeless music that has that raw unpolished energy that appeals to teenagers of every generation. Particularly that first album.
With the ease of streaming kids nowadays aren’t limited to whatever is the music of the time, which doesn’t have anything similar to offer.

Supposedly working class Manchester lads, threatening folk that might sell tickets above face value and then letting Ticketmaster use surge pricing, they’re having everyones pants down!

I managed to get 4 in the pre-sale for Heaton Park. Saw them the last time they played at Heaton Park and that was an amazing gig, have seen Beady Eye 3 times and Liam twice since then.

I think if Liam's voice holds out then destined to be a legendary set of gigs.

Although agree that the price per ticket is scandalous, but Oasis were the only band that I was ever prepared to pay silly money to see so probably would have paid 'Whatever'.

Only platinum tickets left for Dublin when i finally got through (4 hours) 480 euros is too steep for me unfortunately.
