Abysmal, again.
« on January 04, 2025, 05:16:56 pm by TonySoprano »
Wow, it just gets worse.
There simply is no cohesion as a team, and it's like they are playing through treacle every match.

Why the hell does mcann think Billy can play as a lone striker ?! When everyone can see that it simply doesn't work.

The subs were baffling, it just made us worse, Fleming for maxwell?!! What's the point ?! Then Fleming gets done within  30 seconds of being on the pitch.

Few people are saying McCann is on thin ice with supporters, and I tend to agree. Won't be long before he's getting pelters from the stands .

We weren’t great today but we weren’t terrible either, by far the better side for me
But counts for very little

Rubbish from the OP, we were the better side, converting our chances today cost us

It sounded as though there was more application than of late with PV goals against the run of play. The Stats are very much in our favour too.

We weren't awful today. We did get beat, against the run of play too.

Complete overreaction from the OP in my opinion.

Things do need to be fixed though. A lack of people showing for the ball in the first half was obvious but that's down to players bravery.

Olowu and McGrath were due a bad game too, we've overly relied on them both.

Sharp and Joe were both very unlucky not to get on the scoresheet today.

We certainly need more urgency and creativity from our wide though.

I think this is what people meant when they spoke about performances dipping. You can't keep winning if you don't put in consistent showings. I don't mean playing teams off the park but playing well and with a solid game plan.

Put it this way against Fleetwood we weren’t the better side but we won, today we were far and away the better side but lost
Ask yourself which outcome leaves you feeling happier as you drive home

We are not creating enough good chances to win football matches consistently.

We weren’t abysmal today, what a load of nonsense.

We also are not top 3 material.

The build up play is all far too slow and predictable, when we eventually arrive in the final 3rd,  we fanny about until either the opposition has 10 men behind the ball or we lose possession. Teams don't really have to do too much to beat us, just wait for us to screw up and 3 passes later the ball is in the back of the net.

It is clear that Moly is rubbish at the moment. Hurst is better as a sub. Gibson is shite.

And not much coming from the central areas either.

Based on the above, I fully agree with you that they aren’t creating enough good chances.

What was the point in the SBarra signing too?

Wow yes we lost but apart from 15 mins in 2nd half we was by far the better side and didn’t deserve to lose that with a very shit ref aswell and that’s coming from me,olowu got done for the 1st goal and Fleming got caught out of position and they broke for the 2nd.for me the biggest problem is creativity of the midfield but street looked a handful when he come on and with any luck ck he could be the one who kicks us on like adelukin did t last season, still got the faith

Best we’ve played in around the last 10 or so games, even though we’ve lost today I thoroughly enjoyed the game and thought we were robbed by that tool of a ref !

It’s definitely a creation issue, apart from the goal, and hitting the post, what else did we really create.

Joe did get done for their first and a bit easily to, but was it not a very obvious free kick on the half way line that led to it? McCann and his whole support team were going nuts at the 4th official.

We were the better team first half. Second half for most of it we lost our way. Street looked decent when he came on. Fleming and Ironside both poor. Flow of the game not helped by a joke of a referee. We still need 2 more quality loans signed up if we are to challenge for top 3.

Surely we have to move Close and Westbrooke on, replace with 1 x stellar signing in midfield.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see SBarra out on loan too, strange signing.

Think we badly need some experience in defence too, when is Wood back?

Grants team selection was very questionable today.
He plays Billy up against two giants centre half’s.
He plays 2 wide players who have not performed over a number of games now
He leaves Joe on bench until late, and leaves his signature signing on bench.

Come on Grant, time to ditch the 2 wide players and play with the front 3 down the central area of the pitch.
We are now in real trouble so out time to sort things out is deminishing game by game

GM has a few problems on his plate with Molly and Gibbo.

There is something wrong with Molly and Gibbo is very low on confidence.

I can see what GM sees in Street.

I cant wait till he settles down in to the team.

Disagree totally.

That is best we have played in a while.

Dominated the game for 60mins. The subs changed the game in a bad way for 10-15mins but then we got back on top.

I've not heard anyone saying GM is on thin ice, if I did then I would let em know how stupid that comment was.

The new signing looked very good when he came on. Couple more like that and we will be fine.

Pathetic it was far from abysmal, another day we win that.

Thought the subs were very strange though, too much chasing the game, but it has worked before.  Thought we were really decent first half, second very average but the game dictated that.

We played much better than new years day and lost. Football eh?

I only heard the commentary, but I did wonder whether the subs were sensible at that point in the game. GM seems to do it routinely and it sounds like he could have taken off better players than he brought on.

Broadbent was better than Kelly today,
Fleming was at fault for the goal but Maxwell didn’t have his best game today either.
We need to get close or westbrooke in at the side of Bailey,
Street is going to be a great signing he got in behind more in 45 mins than we have all season

Ridiculous OP. Over reaction again. We were the better side by far. Yes we need to improve and find a settled team and formula. As for Grant being on thin ice… while we are in promotion contention…give me a break! Vale were organised, worked hard  and time wasted (as you do 2 nil up away from home)but on the balance of play did not deserve to win. Ref was awful and helped Vale more than us. Its tight at the top. Lots of twists and turns to come yet. On to the next one. Ive no time for negative drainers!

Too many poor performers today. Only Sterry and Bailey had good games. Was like watching us under Moore in the first half.

Hopefully Sterry keeps this up. Really good last 2 games. We really need Maxwell back to his best asap. Miles better player than Fleming for sure.
Street main man in the middle up top?

Yes. Reckon it was a clear free kick to us that the referee chose to ignore. That was probably the most frustrating thing. He gave Vale a hell of a lot of soft free kicks and didn’t give us some blindingly obvious ones.

Joe did get done though. Should have never let him get into the box.
