I dearly hope it’s a central midfielder.

If it is then Sam Clucas please

I've been told by a Lincoln supporting mate that they are in for Clucas...

Big Tom, Clucas and Marquis is a great spine for a L2 team.

It's a right back :)

We could do with one, were a bit light weight there with just Sterry, Emmanuel, Nixon and Bailey who can play there.
Emmanuel ?

Not great for if they get promoted - 33, 34 and 36 next season.

Perhaps we should reopen this thread after we've made our second signing and are looking towards the third?

We've got Gotts, and Sharp signing probably counts as no 2, so I'm happy to hope the third is 'almost done'!

I don't regard retaining players on new contracts as new signings. They're not adding to the squad from last season.

As far as I'm concerned, we've made one new signing so far.

We are probably starting the season with 2-3 loan signings. They are never confirmed until relatively late. Given we are looking at around 6-7 signings, that’s half we know aren’t going to appear for ages. So it’s just the 2-3 permanent signings that will be coming in the next few weeks. Not a huge number.

GM usually likes most of the squad together for the return to training (25th June think I read)

I'm hoping Kyle Hurst is like a new signing next season.

C'mon Kyle lad. Make it impossible for Grant to leave you out.

Same here, Rob. Was surprised Grant sent him up there, surely there's a story in there somewhere.
I'd love to see him back at his Bradford tearing apart best for us.

I can't remember which home game it was, but Hurst let his full back run past him, waved his arms around and did not chase. Grant looked at Cliff and shook his head and Cliff nodded back. I don't think Grant trusted him again after that. He didnt play much after that as was off on loan. Non negotiables.

This was also a tough lesson Gibson had to learn, I watched Grants reaction a couple of times when he lost the ball, and unfortunately it led to goals.
He was dropped for a bit, noticeable that his defending and chasing down was dramatically better when he came back.

That defending and hounding down players is most definitely one of Grants non-negotiables.

Unfortunately for Hirsty he looks very scared of the players chasing him down, almost to the point of forgetting about the ball, so chasing back and getting stuck in, will never be in his wheelhouse, I’m not sure you can teach or install that, I think your probably born that way, or not.

The clubs not got money to sign players worthy of trying for promotion. The silence of the clubs is so loud it’s screaming “ we can’t afford to loose any more players”!! Because they can’t replace them all and it’s a toss up of who gets signed . Loans are going to easier to get and out of contract player even easier. So it’s young prospects and old legs .. imo of course Rtid

Definitely the 25th June - I’ve just listened to Grant’s interview when he talked about what shape the lads should be in when they come back. I would think he’ll want 90% of his new signings in by then, also. Which means he’s going to have a busy 23 days!

Show me where if this was a JR promotion season that the club is showing it ambitions or setting record straight by speaking about signing in the pipeline or any i formation that could help show any progress . Let’s face facts over half the back four have gone and loans that all gut is over line.. It’s the silence that speaks  volumes !!!

Good conversion rate by all accounts. Worth a go up front?
